Alex Galchenyuk skated with his teammates for the first time on Wednesday since suffering a broken right hand in early January.
"It's my first practice with the team and I am still looking to get more speed and flexibility back in my hand," said Galchenyuk, who required an ice pack on his hand when he spoke to the media after the session. "There are little things I have to work on, like the toe drag I tried out there. I know what I have to do, but I have to think about it. Those movements have to become natural again." He hasn't played since Jan. 6 and has 23 points in 44 games this season.

Alex Galchenyuk is not geting any significant power-play ice time.
It is a bit strange that the talented rookie is not seeing ice time with the man advantage while less gifted players such as Rene Bourque, are. Against the Panthers Sunday night, Galchenyuk did not skate a second on the power play and received only 13:35 minutes of ice time in total. Keep an eye on this situation going forward.

The Canadiens have shuffled their top lines for Saturday's game against the Islanders.
Alex Galchenyuk, who was the best Hab Thursday night in a loss to the Flyers, will leave the "Kid Line" to skate alongside Tomas Plekanec and Brian Gionta, while Michael Bournival will take Galchenyuk's place alongside Brendan Gallagher and Lars Eller. Consider this a boost for Bournival. Montreal's other scoring line of David Desharnais, Max Paciorrety and Daniel Briere will stay intact.

Alex Galchenyuk isn't worried about his fluctuating ice time.
"I'm a young player," said the 19-year-old. "I can't be down, I can't let the ice time get in my head. I have to keep pushing forward to get better whether I'm playing two minutes or 18 minutes." In his last five games, he logged under 10 minutes of action twice in matches against Toronto and Boston. During his other appearances over that span, Galchenyuk saw at least 14 minutes of ice time and he contributed two goals and one assist. He has 20 points in 31 games this year.
