Galchenyuk picked up two points -- a goal and an assist -- in Saturday's win over Colorado. He now has at least one point in five of six games this season and six points (two goals, four assists) in that span. Very quietly, Galchenyuk is starting to show that he really was the guy who should have been picked first overall in 2012. This is going to be a big year for the talented winger.

Galchenyuk had an assist, two blocked shots and five hits in Thursday night's win over the Bruins. He has a point in four of the first five games and is tied for the team lead with 14 hits. Leading the team in hits is uncharacteristic of Galchenyuk, but he's being rewarded with good minutes. He's averaging 16:41 through five games, a two-minute plus increase over last season's ice-time average.

Galchenyuk scored his first goal of the season in Saturday night's 4-3 shootout win over the Flyers. Galchenyuk pushed toward the net when a Tomas Plekanec shot caromed in off his skate, completing Montreal's comeback from a three-goal deficit. He has a point in all three games and is skating on Montreal's most productive line.

Galchenyuk had two shots on net, five hits and assisted on Montreal's lone goal in Thursday night's 2-1 shootout win over the Capitals. So far, so good for Galchenyuk and Tomas Plekanec skating together on the second line. The two have worked well together through the first two games.

Galchenyuk had one shot on goal and assisted on Tomas Plekanec's game-winner in Wednesday night's 4-3 victory over the Maple Leafs. He logged 14:00 minutes including 2:01 on the power play. The newly minted second line featuring Galchenyuk at left wing, Brendan Gallagher at right wing and Plekanec at center led the Canadiens with nine shots and three points. The Habs are looking for the 20-year-old to take another developmental step this season and opening night provided a glimpse of that.

Galchenyuk scored his second preseason goal in Friday night's 4-3 overtime loss to Ottawa. He skated 16:38 including over six minutes on the man advantage. Galchenyuk had another strong game and his line, with center Tomas Plekanec and right winger Brendan Gallagher, earned praise from head coach Michel Therrien following the game. That combination will open the regular season as Montreal's second line, which means top-six minutes for Galchenyuk,

Galchenyuk was moved back to left wing during Saturday morning's practice, Hockey Inside Out reports. He skated on a line with center Tomas Plekanec and right winger Brendan Gallagher. The Habs experimented with Galchenyuk at center during preseason, but the plan was always to move him back to wing.

Galchenyuk scored the game-winning goal in Thursday night's preseason overtime win over the Avalanche. The goal was essentially a power-play goal, coming seconds after Colorado's Nick Holden got out of the box. Galchenyuk played the game at center with Tomas Plekanec getting the night off and won 7-of-14 faceoffs. He said he felt comfortable at center, though when all bodies are healthy, Galchenyuk is expected to go back to left wing.

Galchenyuk will open training camp playing center, the Montreal Gazette reports. Groomed as a center man, Galchenyuk's played primarily at left wing in his first two NHL seasons. The Canadiens are still deep at the center position, so we expect Galchenyuk to move back to wing by the time the regular season opens. It appears having him play center in training camp is planting the seed for an eventual move to the position.
