The Montreal Canadiens turned their losing ways around with a 4-2 win against the New York Islanders thanks in part to Alex Galchenyuk's work on Sunday. The budding star scored a goal and collected two assists while firing six shots on goal. Both of Galchenyuk's helpers were primary ones. He now has 13 points in 18 games this season.

It looks like Alex Galchenyuk will be back on the wing for Thursday's match-up against Ottawa. He skated with center Lars Eller and Brendan Gallagher during Wednesday's practice after playing in the middle on Tuesday. "Honestly, I don't care," said Galchenyuk when asked about the briefness of the experiment. "I want to help the team win. And wherever the coaches think I'm better positioned - whether it's wing or center - it's fine with me." He enjoyed plenty of success with Eller and Gallagher early into the year.

Alex Galchenyuk went 1-for-6 in the faceoff circle in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss to St. Louis. He played between Max Pacioretty and Brendan Gallagher, as the Canadiens tried him out at his natural position in the middle. Clearly, he could still use some work on his draws if he's going to continue getting time as a center. Galchenyuk has two goals and nine assists in 16 games this campaign.

Alex Galchenyuk may get more time as a center after impressing coach Michel Therrien in the third period of Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Colorado. He played between Max Pacioretty and Brendan Gallagher in the contest and he's likely to start Tuesday's game versus St. Louis in the middle as well. "It's something we've been thinking about and we decided to do it in the third period and I was really pleased," Therrien said. "This is an experiment that we're going to repeat again."

Alex Galchenyuk scored a goal for Montreal in a 2-0 shutout win over the New York Rangers Monday. The young forward has been impressive in just his second NHL campaign this year, as the goal was his second to go along with seven helpers. Tomas Plekanec also continued his hot play by scoring a goal of his own in the victory.

Alex Galchenyuk contributed an assist in Thursday's win over the Anaheim Ducks. His helper snapped a five-game pointless slide after he started the year with a four-game streak. Galchenyuk now has one goal and eight points in 10 games this campaign. His assist gave the Galchenyuk-Lars Eller-Brendan Gallagher combination a point in eight of the Canadiens first 10 games.

Alex Galchenyuk has enjoyed a great start to the 2013-14 campaign. He got his first goal of the season in Thursday's win over Edmonton and he picked up an assist as well to give him seven points in four contests. Galchenyuk has earned at least one point in each game and is currently tied for first in league scoring with super rookie Tomas Hertl and Washington sniper Alex Ovechkin.

Alex Galchenyuk picked up another two assists on Saturday. That brings Galchenyuk up to four points in two games. He had a solid rookie season with nine goals and 27 points in 48 contests and should do a bit better from a point-per-game perspective in 2013-14.

Alex Galchenyuk contributed a pair of assists in Montreal's season opener Tuesday night. The trio of Galchenyuk, Lars Eller and Brendan Gallagher accounted for all of the Canadiens' goals in their defeat against Toronto. Eller scored twice and set up Gallagher for the team's other marker. They should be a productive line this season.

Alex Galchenyuk was the youngest forward invited to USA Hockey's orientation camp. He won't turn 20 until Feb. 12 and he'll like to celebrate his birthday in Sochi at the Winter Olympics. "Obviously there are a lot of talented guys here, but I think that I'm a skilled guy, I can make plays and I think that's always a huge thing on the (larger international ice surface)," Galchenyuk said. "Also I'm versatile and can play either wing or centre so that shouldn't be an issue." It might be tough for him to crack the team's roster, but he could be a potential dark horse for the Olympics.
