Now, as the Canadiens' organizational focus pivots toward assessing talent for next season, they're going to let Galchenyuk continue his transition to NHL center. Saturday's combination brings three of the Habs' most talented offensive performers together, but it didn't last long as Gallagher left the game after 4:52 of playing time due to a lower-body injury. Despite losing Gallagher, Galchenyuk scored two goals with Pacioretty assisting on both of them.

Galchenyuk tallied two goals and a plus-1 rating in a 4-2 loss to the Jets on Saturday.

Despite the fact that his team isn't looking too hot these days, Galchenyuk continues to be having himself quite the season. He's now recorded 21 goals on the season, which is a new career high for the 22-year-old. He's also just five points from tying his career high of 46 points, as well. With seven goals in his last six contests, Galchenyuk is turning into an absolute must start in all formats.

Galchenyuk scored twice Wednesday against the Ducks, but his contributions weren't enough as the Canadiens fell 3-2 in a shootout.

Galchenyuk was Montreal's most active offensive player in this one, as he led the team with six shots in addition to scoring both of its goals. He has now found the back of the net five times in his last four games, and is just one short of his career-high mark of 20 goals set last season with 18 games to play.

Galchenyuk scored a goal in Saturday night's 4-1 win over the Maple Leafs. The goal was his third in the past two games and his 17th of the season, tying him for second on the team.

EDGE Analysis

Galchenyuk has picked up his scoring pace since being moved from center to forward mid-January. The 22-year-old has seven goals and 10 points in his last 13 games. The Canadiens want to see a more complete player, which means attention to the defensive zone, but there's no doubting his offensive talent.

Galchenyuk scored a pair of goals in Wednesday's 4-3 road win over Washington. He also fired five shots on net.

Galchenyuk got the party started with the first of three goals that would chase superstar netminder Braden Holtby from the game. He then proceeded to blow one past Capitals backup Phillip Grubauer for his 16th tally of the season. Galchenyuk now has 36 points in 61 games to go with a minus-9 rating and 154 shots on goal this season.

Galchenyuk scored twice in Friday's 6-4 loss to Buffalo.

Both snipes came in the second period on the power play. Galchenyuk has been rolling lately with seven points in his last seven games -- a span in which he's also fired 28 shots on goal -- and is up to 14 goals and 34 points in 56 games this year.

Galchenyuk had a team-high six shots, an assist and was plus-3 in Tuesday night's 4-2 win over the Lightning.

EDGE Analysis

After endless line tweaks, head coach Michel Therrien has hit on a good combination with Galchenyuk joining Brendan Gallagher and Tomas Plekanec. The trio was dominant Tuesday, scoring three goals with three assists and taking 14 of Montreal's 27 shots. Since moving to the wing mid-January, Galchenyuk has attempted 41 shots in 11 games -- 1.5 shots per game more than he was taking as a center.

Galchenyuk had five shots and scored a goal in Wednesday night's 4-2 loss to the Sabres. He has a point in each of the last three games.

EDGE Analysis

The line with Galchenyuk, Tomas Plekanec and Brendan Gallagher was the best combination Montreal had going in the game. The three combined for 13 shots and several scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, who knows how long the trio will be together. Line combinations have been ephemeral during Montreal's current slide (1-8-1 in last 10).

Galchenyuk scored a power-play goal in Tuesday night's 5-2 loss to Columbus. He had six shots and 5:56 TOI on the power play.

EDGE Analysis

Galchenyuk had strung together a nice scoring run beginning at the end of December, but he's been on the skids since. Tuesday night's goal was his first point of any kind in nine games. The good news is that he's on the first-unit power play and has been a more active shooter since his return to the wing in mid-January.

Galchenyuk was moved back to wing in Montreal's previous game and head coach Michel Therrien said he'll "continue the experiment" in Saturday's road game against the Blues, Hockey Inside Out reports.

EDGE Analysis

Galchenyuk, who had won just two of nine faceoffs, was moved to left wing on a line with David Desharnais and Paul Byron, the line that produced Montreal's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Blackhawks. "I really like what I saw from those two together, David and Chucky," Therrien said. "Those two guys played together on the power play and yesterday we're trying to push. I like what I saw."
