Galchenyuk notched a power-play goal in Sunday's win over the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
The tally came with just three and a half minutes remaining to break the tie and help deliver the Habs the victory. After scoring 20 goals a season ago, the mark was Galchenyuk's first since Oct. 29 and only his third goal of the season.

Galchenyuk picked up two assists Saturday in a 4-2 win over the Bruins.
EDGE Analysis
We keep waiting to see if this guy will break out and it hasn't happened yet. He's in his fourth year and we'd like to see him start to show he can be a top-line center. Galchenyuk hasn't shown that yet, but his 11 points in 16 games does put him on a mid-50s point pace.

Galchenyuk had an assist and won 12-of-19 face offs in Tuesday night's 3-0 win over the Blues.
EDGE Analysis
Galchenyuk's the leader in face-off percentage among the team's regular center-men, having won 45-of-86 (52.3%) through seven games. In the defensive zone, he's 17-of-28 (60.7%). Face-offs have not been a strong area for Galchenyuk when Montreal previously experimented with him at center, but he's performed well at the dot early on.

Galchenyuk set up three Montreal goals in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Bruins. One came on the power play.
EDGE Analysis
This could really be the breakout year for the guy Edmonton should have taken over Nail Yakupov. He now has four points (one goal, three assists) in two games so far.

Galchenyuk scored on his lone shot attempt of the evening in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Leafs on Opening Night. It held up as the game winner.
EDGE Analysis
A fine start to the season for Galchenyuk, who was set up by d-men Andrei Markov and P.K. Subban just past the midway point of the third period. Both the Habs and fantasy owners alike are hoping that the 2012 third-overall pick finally breaks out in his fourth full NHL season after posting point totals of 27, 31 and 46 in his first three campaigns.

Galchenyuk, who lost seven of nine faceoffs in Thursday's preseason game against Ottawa, spent a portion of Friday's practice session working on his draws, Hockey Inside Out reports.
EDGE Analysis
Galchenyuk practiced faceoffs against Tomas Plekanec and Charles Hudon, losing more draws than he won. Head coach Michel Therrien said he wasn't worried about Galchenyuk's faceoff performance, which is at 39.1 percent in the preseason. Therrien can always have Lars Eller, who's skating at left wing on Galchenyuk's line, fill in for faceoffs if need be.

Galchenyuk will be moved to center this season, the Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
During Galchenyuk's time in the NHL, there have been a few attempts to transition him to center, but they haven't lasted. He and Tomas Plekanec will be the centers on the top two lines, likely meaning either Lars Eller or David Desharnais will move to the wing.

Galchenyuk dished out two assists, put six shots on goal, registered two PIM and went plus-1 in Thursday's sweep-avoiding win over the Lightning.
Galchenyuk made himself a target for criticism with a streak of invisible performances recently, as Thursday's two points snapped a streak of seven playoff games without the young Russian registering on the scoresheet. He'd been particularly rough lately, registering only two shots in the last four games. A sudden and blistering Galchenyuk breakout is just the kind of miracle that the Canadiens need to complete the long and difficult comeback attempt ahead of them, but consistency has not been his strong suit.

Galchenyuk took three minor penalties and missed a couple of scoring chances during Friday's double-overtime loss to Tampa Bay, the Montreal Gazette reports. The struggling young forward was removed from the power-play unit Friday and for a brief spell was demoted to fourth-line duty.
Galchenyuk, who opened the first-round series against Ottawa with points in the first two games, has been silent since. Head coach Michel Therrien continues to preach patience in the development of Galchenyuk and rejected the notion of some tough love, such as making him a healthy scratch for a game or two. Still, this is his third NHL season and the Habs are waiting to see some consistency from the 21-year-old.

Galchenyuk scored the overtime-winning goal in Game 2 against Ottawa.
Galchenyuk's off to a great start in these playoffs recording two points and seven shots on goal in his first two games. Skating on the top line, the 21-year-old is likely to be a key difference maker for the Habs during their postseason run.
