Galchenyuk scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Buffalo.
EDGE Analysis
The goal snapped an 11-game goalless skid. Galchenyuk has been a dud this season -- this was his first multi-point game of the season. Carey Price is back, so the whole team will likely utter a big sigh of relief ... and start to score more. We hope. Galchenyuk needs to do more or be stapled to your bench.

Galchenyuk picked up an assist and had two shots on net over 16:11 of ice time in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
EDGE Analysis
Technically, it was a secondary assist, but Galchenyuk's slick pass to Shea Weber initiated the scoring chance that was finished when Paul Bryon banged home a rebound off a Weber sortie. It was his first point in four games and he's been held goal-less in seven straight. He can dazzle opponents and has meshed well with equally bedeviling Jonathan Drouin, but neither are considered snipers and that's what the Canadiens (2.42 goals-per-game, 30th) really need right now.

Galchenyuk assisted on Max Pacioretty's power-play game-winner in overtime and had five shots over 18:43 of ice time in Saturday's 5-4 win over Winnipeg.
EDGE Analysis
Galchenyuk was moved off the fourth line and posted season-highs in shots and ice time. The 23-year-old forward entered the game averaging just 1.7 shots per game. If Galchenyuk can continue to generate scoring opportunities while paying a modicum of attention to his own zone, head coach Claude Julien will resist the urge to demote him again.

Galchenyuk practiced on one of the top two lines Friday, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Galchenyuk has spent much of the season on the fourth line but lately has "been competing harder," according to head coach Claude Julien, and earned a promotion to a top-six role for Saturday night's game in Winnipeg. The offensively gifted forward skated on a line with Jonathan Drouin and Artturi Lehkonen. The Canadiens hope liberating Galchenyuk off the fourth line will lead to more offense. He ranks 11th on the team with just 22 shots on net over 13 games.

Galchenyuk scored his first even-strength goal of the season in Monday's 8-3 win over the Senators.
EDGE Analysis
Galchenyuk's first three goals of the season all came on the power play, so to see him provide offense while the fourth line is on the ice is a good sign. Montreal has scored 13 goals in its last two games, so we don't expect head coach Claude Julien to make any changes, but Galchenyuk has three goals in the last four games and could be in line for a promotion the next time the coach shakes up the lines.

Galchenyuk scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Brendan Gallagher fed a pass through the crease to a wide-open Galchenyuk, who finished it for his third goal of the season, all coming on the power play. It was the second time in three games that Galchenyuk scored on a feed from Gallagher. The 23-year-old forward will be challenged to score even-strength goals while stapled to the fourth line, but there's value in his role on the power play.

Galchenyuk scored a power-play goal and had three shots over 12:36 of ice time in Tuesday's 5-1 win over Florida.
EDGE Analysis
Galchenyuk, demoted to the fourth line for Tuesday's game, maintains a spot on the power-play unit and notched his second power-play marker of the season. It was a hard-work goal, as Galchenyuk beat Florida's Michael Haley and goalie James Reimer to a rebound and banged home a goal that evened the game at 1-1. Perhaps Galchenyuk's efforts Tuesday were enough to get out of head coach Claude Julien's doghouse, but we don't expect any line changes after Montreal scored a season-high five goals.

Galchenyuk skated on the fourth line at Monday's practice, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is the second time Glachenyuk's been demoted to the fourth line, and head coach Claude Julien didn't mince words when explaining his decision. "Chucky has to help himself. If you're looking for others to make you better, instead of you making others better, you probably have the wrong attitude. Chucky's capable of being better himself without relying on too many people," said the coach. Galchenyuk joins a couple of other former first-rounders, recent callups Nikita Scherbak and Michael McCarron on the bottom line.

Galchenyuk skated at right wing on the top line in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Kings. He had one shot and a couple of minor penalties over 15:12 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
Galchenyuk returned from a two-game banishment to the fourth line, but was unable generate any offense while skating alongside Max Pacioretty and Jonathan Drouin. Head coach Claude Julien took a blender to all of his lines Wednesday, but it wasn't enough to awaken the the Canadiens, who are now 1-5-1 after the loss with just 10 goals over seven games.

Galchenyuk skated with the fourth line during Monday's practice, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Galchenyuk, who was demoted to the fourth line for Saturday's game against Toronto and had a season-low 12:16 of ice time, got a huge monkey off his back when he lit the lamp against the Maple Leafs. We had wondered if head coach Claude Julien would get him back to a top-six role, particularly as the team has had difficulty scoring goals, but Julien will apparently keep Galchenyuk tied to the fourth line for the time being. It's relatively early in the Julien-Galchenyuk relationship, but the forward is shaping up to be the Canadiens version of Tyler Seguin, a similarly gifted offensive player that was punished often by Julien when the two were in Boston.
