Matt Schaub will undergo surgery next Wednesday to repair the damaged Lisfranc ligament in his right foot. Dr. Bob Anderson informed Schaub that surgery was his only option to repair the ligament. "There's really no way to cut or move laterally with this kind of injury," said Schaub. "It's something that would have limited what we could do." Schaub can't put weight on the foot for eight weeks. He's facing a long recovery, though he's expected to be fully recovered by the beginning of next season.

Texans placed Matt Schaub (foot) on injured reserve, ending his season. Dr. Robert Anderson presumably confirmed that Schaub will need surgery to repair his right Lisfranc joint. The Texans will move forward with Matt Leinart as their starter and T.J. Yates as the backup. In 10 games this year, Schaub completed 61.0 percent of his passes while averaging 247.9 passing yards per game with 15 touchdowns against six interceptions. That was good enough to place him 10th among fantasy quarterbacks. Schaub will return next season as more of a QB2 thanks to the Texans' reliance on their dominant run game.

Matt Schaub is going to Charlotte, N.C. Tuesday to meet with a foot specialist. The specialist is presumably Dr. Robert Anderson, who is considered an expert in Lisfranc ligament injuries. Once Dr. Anderson gives his opinion, the Texans will decide whether to place Schaub on injured reserve. The tentative expectation is that Schaub will need surgery, thus ending his season. He sustained the injury on a quarterback sneak in the Week 10 win over the Bucs.

Matt Schaub insists his foot injury is not career-threatening. We've yet to hear anything of that nature, but the speculation apparently made its way to Schaub. "It's not career-ending, no way. I'd like to talk to whoever is out there reporting rumors or spreading rumors because those people pretty much have no idea what they are talking about," Schaub said. "There's a ton of of football ahead for me and the Houston Texans." Schaub revealed that his foot is "the size of a cinder block" this week.

One source tells Scout.com's Aaron Wilson that it's still up in the air whether Matt Schaub (foot) will miss the rest of the season. "Nothing definitive yet," said the source. Coach Gary Kubiak had essentially the same prognosis on Tuesday. The Texans are hoping to avoid the worst-case scenario when Schaub is diagnosed by Lisfranc specialist Dr. Robert Anderson.

Coach Gary Kubiak doesn't expect to know if Matt Schaub (foot) is done for the season until next week. "[The evaluation] is going to go on for probably about a week," said Kubiak, "and then at some point next week we'll know whether he has a chance to come back or he doesn't." It's widely believed that Schaub's injury is of the season-ending variety. The Texans are awaiting confirmation from Lisfranc specialist Dr. Robert Anderson before announcing it as official.

The Houston Chronicle confirms that it is "expected" Matt Schaub's second opinion from Dr. Robert Anderson next week will reveal that Schaub needs surgery to repair his Lisfranc joint. Schaub is still holding out hope that Anderson determines he won't need surgery, but it's all but a foregone conclusion after the Texans' medical staff surveyed the foot extensively. Barring a miracle, Schaub figures to be placed on season-ending injured reserve just as the Texans emerge from their Week 11 bye.

Appearing on 610 Houston Monday evening, Texans coach Gary Kubiak disputed reports that Matt Schaub (foot) is done for the season. "It's the team's opinion that he is not out for the year," said Kubiak. The Texans still want to see how Schaub emerges from an upcoming visit with Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina. They'll decide whether to place him on injured reserve then. Clearly, though, Schaub isn't going to play anytime soon, and in all likelihood he is probably done for the season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Matt Schaub is done for the season with a Lisfranc injury. Matt Leinart will be the Texans' starting quarterback the rest of the way, with rookie T.J. Yates backing him up. Our suspicion is that this is a Lisfranc fracture, an injury that would require surgery and up to 8-10 months of recovery time. Schaub will finish the season with a 15:6 TD-to-INT ratio and 248-yard per-game average, essentially evolving into a game manager of a run-heavy offense. The rest of the skill players in Houston all take at least small hits, though Leinart's insertion could get Arian Foster more touches because opponents figure to be more competitive in games. Andre Johnson will return after the bye as more of a mid- to low-end WR1 than truly elite fantasy receiver play. He should still dominate targets in Houston's passing game. The offense will remain the most run-heavy in football.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak revealed at his Monday press conference that Matt Schaub is dealing with a "significant" foot injury, and will be out for at least Week 12. Matt Leinart will be under center following the Texans' Week 11 bye. Schaub was able to stay in the game after suffering the injury in the second quarter Sunday, but required the aid of a walking boot afterward. He will meet with a specialist later this week, and is without a timetable for a return. The injury comes right as the Texans are set to get Andre Johnson (hamstring) back following a six-week absence, and clouds the race for the top seed in the AFC. The Texans can be expected to lean on Arian Foster and Ben Tate more than ever in Schaub's absence, making Leinart a poor fill-in if you're an owner.
