SI's Peter King has a "feeling" the Patriots will pursue free agent Dwight Freeney.
The Pats could certainly use some reinforcements up front, and know Freeney well after years of battles. Freeney should be connected to most contending teams, and won't hurt for 2-3 year offers. Aside from his signing bonus, however, he's unlikely to land much guaranteed money beyond 2013.

A league source tells the Denver Post the Broncos will pursue free agent Dwight Freeney if they can't get RE Elvis Dumervil to take a pay-cut.
Per beat writer Mike Klis, the Broncos believe they'd be better off paying Freeney $5 million instead of Dumervil's currently scheduled $12 million. Dumervil is the more productive player at this stage of their careers, but is grossly overpaid. A return to a 4-3 defense could also help Freeney rebound from a rough 2012. This won't be the last we hear of Freeney potentially reuniting with Peyton Manning.

Free agent Dwight Freeney downplayed a report that Peyton Manning is recruiting him to come to Denver.
Explained Freeney, "That was more of a friend text: 'Sorry to hear what happened to you in Indianapolis. Hey, come play with us. We'd love to have you.' So, one of those." Syracuse alumnus Freeney indicated he'd prefer to finish his career playing on the East Coast. If Freeney is willing to consider West Coast teams, we think the pass rush-needy Seahawks would be a solid fit.

Free agent Dwight Freeney mentioned the Jets as a potential landing spot as the March 12 signing period approaches.
"Playing in New York," said Freeney, "that is obviously something that's very attractive." Financially, the Jets are in no position to sign high-priced, aging free agents, and Freeney would be a questionable schematic fit. He struggled in Chuck Pagano's defense last year and Rex Ryan runs the same scheme.

Free agent DE Dwight Freeney says he would have taken a hometown discount to remain with the Colts.
"I'll be honest with you, I was surprised the way it happened," Freeney said Wednesday. "I figured they would offer me something low and I would just accept it, go the last few years and retire a Colt." The comments are an indication that what the Colts saw on film aligned with Freeney's career-worst statistics. Freeney insists he has a "lot left in the tank," but his market is unlikely to live up to the hype it's currently receiving.

Speaking in a Wednesday radio interview, free agent DE Dwight Freeney said playing for the Giants would be a "dream."
With free agent DE Osi Umenyiora widely expected to move on from New York, the Giants could be on the lookout for veteran pass-rushing depth, but Freeney would have to be amenable to a team-friendly contract. Freeney will surely pursue top dollar before sifting through incentive-laden offers. Freeney says he's being courted by former teammate Peyton Manning in Denver, while Roddy White stumped for Freeney in Atlanta on his Twitter account Wednesday.

Free agent DE/OLB Dwight Freeney said Peyton Manning has been recruiting him to come to Denver.
Manning and Freeney spent 10 years together in Indianapolis. However, we wouldn't put much stock in Peyton's ability to evaluate defensive talent. Freeney, now 33, would be a poor fit in the Broncos' 3-4 -- even as a situational pass rusher. The Colts didn't even bother to make him a lowball offer.

ESPN's Paul Kuharsky believes the Cowboys could be a fit for free agent DE Dwight Freeney.
Under new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, the Cowboys have switched to Freeney's preferred 4-3 base and they play indoors on the turf he needs. At age 33, the Colts' all-time leading sack man will and seven-time Pro Bowler will have to settle for a short-term, incentive-laden deal. The Falcons have also been mentioned as a potential suitor.

ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas believes free agent Dwight Freeney "could be a possibility" for the Falcons.
The Falcons don't have a legitimate pass-rusher outside of John Abraham on their roster, and Freeney could have strong interest if offered a starting role in DC Mike Nolan's 4-3 defense. A seven-time Pro Bowler, Freeney is a liability against the run at this stage of his career, but could provide a short-term upgrade to a defensive line that generated just 28 sacks in 2012.
