Jets released WR Braylon Edwards. Edwards was in the middle of a workmanlike camp before going down with a leg injury last week. He missed Saturday's regular season dress rehearsal, sealing his fate. Edwards was outlasted on the roster by UDFA WR Ryan Spadola, which can't be a good sign for his future. On the wrong side of 30 and three years removed from his last worthwhile campaign, Edwards is near the end.

ESPN New York doesn't project Braylon Edwards to make the Jets' final roster. Beat writer Rich Cimini notes Edwards "deserves" a spot, but is on the bubble. The 30-year-old has had a quiet camp, and he's been missing time with a leg injury of late. Edwards may not play in Saturday night's regular season dress rehearsal. He has five grabs for 72 yards this preseason. The Jets could choose to cut Edwards ahead of Week 1, avoiding paying him a fully-guaranteed salary.

Braylon Edwards has missed four straight practices with a leg injury, and may not suit up for Saturday's regular season dress rehearsal against the Giants. Having an underwhelming camp, missing Saturday's game could torpedo Edwards' roster chances after the Jets signed Mohamed Massaquoi on Thursday. Three years removed from his last noteworthy campaign, Edwards' career is running on fumes.

Braylon Edwards believes he can still play at an "elite level." "I'm starting to get into camp shape, that groove, that vibe," Edwards said Tuesday. "Now is the chance to really go after it and really show these guys I still have it and that I can play at an elite level to help this team win games." While Edwards' bull-by-the-horns attitude is admirable, he was an elite player for exactly one season of his career, and it was six years ago. He needs to make the team before anything else.

The NY Daily News' Manish Mehta expects Braylon Edwards to start in Week 1. He'll likely get the nod over Stephen Hill at X receiver, with Jeremy Kerley at Z. More ominously for Edwards' already-poor fantasy outlook is the fact that Mehta expects him to draw Darrelle Revis on Opening Day against the Bucs. Edwards won't be worth drafting outside of exceptionally deep fantasy leagues.

Jets re-signed Braylon Edwards to a one-year contract. This was fully expected to be finalized after Edwards went through a physical with Gang Green earlier on Wednesday. The 30-year-old appeared in three games for the Jets last season, catching ten passes for 125 yards. New York was in dire need of some veteran receiver help with Santonio Holmes (Lisfranc surgery) still on the shelf. Edwards has a real shot to start in Week 1 against the Bucs.

The Jets are currently putting free agent Braylon Edwards through a physical and are on the verge of signing him. 30-year-old Edwards has struggled with various injuries the past few seasons, including to his knee. If the Jets pass him, he'll immediately step onto the practice field and compete for snaps at New York's thinnest position. Santonio Holmes' recovery from Lisfranc surgery remains behind schedule, and there are serious doubts about whether Holmes will be ready for the season opener.

The New York Daily News reports the Jets are still considering re-signing free agent WR Braylon Edwards. Edwards, 30, hasn't made any known visits in free agency. He appeared in three games after coming over from the Seahawks last season but would likely only be an option if the Jets don't sign one of Austin Collie or Laurent Robinson.

Jets GM John Idzik hasn't ruled out re-signing free agent Braylon Edwards. "Guys like that will be under consideration as we go forward, for sure," Idzik said on a conference call with season-ticket holders. Edwards had reportedly been told in March that he wasn't a part of the Jets' plans, but perhaps that changed after Gang Green did nothing to address its slipshod receiver corps in the draft. The 30-year-old veteran hasn't made any visits in free agency.

The Jets have reportedly told free agent Braylon Edwards that they have interest in re-signing him. The Jets need cheap talent, so Edwards is on their radar. But he's certainly not a priority signing after getting dumped by four different teams since 2009. Edwards' market won't develop until after the first couple waves of signings come and go.
