Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed Friday that Braylon Edwards will start the opener against Arizona. It's as expected with Golden Tate (knee) out for at least one game. Edwards isn't a realistic fantasy option until we see some in-game chemistry with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson, but the veteran receiver flashed vertical chops with big plays of 32 and 39 yards in the preseason, the latter for a touchdown. Edwards can run away with this starting job if he performs well.

The Tacoma News Tribune says Braylon Edwards is behind Golden Tate at split end. Edwards showed some fresh legs during the preseason, catching three passes for 83 yards with a touchdown in limited action. We're expecting a heavy rotation here, with Tate getting the ceremonial start in Week 1 and Edwards serving as the deep threat. Neither will be an every-down wideout.

Braylon Edwards has been "the most consistent of the big receivers who can make explosive plays down the field" in Seahawks training camp. The Tacoma News Tribune notes that Edwards makes at least one "eye-opening" play every day. "I find it hard to believe he will not be on Seattle's roster when the season begins," says beat writer Eric Williams. If Edwards' knee is back to full health -- and all reports thus far suggest it is -- he's better bet than "starter" Golden Tate for fantasy value at split end.

Braylon Edwards has mostly worked as the No. 2 split end behind Golden Tate. Edwards has had a solid couple weeks while battling with Tate, Kris Durham and others for reps. Meanwhile, Sidney Rice and Terrell Owens are working at the flanker spot. If Edwards makes the final roster, he'll likely serve a situational deep threat role.

Braylon Edwards has appeared 100 percent recovered from offseason knee surgery at Seahawks camp. Per the News Tribune, Edwards is "consistently making explosive plays." Still, he's listed as the third-team split end behind Golden Tate and Kris Durham on the team's official depth chart. "Like any good player, he just has to get comfortable with the offense," receivers coach Kippy Brown said. Edwards' roster spot isn't secure, especially after the Seahawks added Terrell Owens.

ESPN's Mike Sando believes Braylon Edwards and Terrell Owens are battling for one roster spot. The idea is that the Seahawks can't keep two veteran receivers that don't contribute on special teams. However, Sidney Rice's continued injury problems and the struggles of Golden Tate/Ben Obomanu leave this wideout corps with a lot of question marks. The depth chart here is extremely fluid.

According to ESPN New York, the Jets did have some level of interest in Braylon Edwards as a "down the road option" before he signed with Seattle. This could be one the Jets end up regretting. Yahoo's Doug Farrar observed that Edwards looked good, aggressively beating the press off the line in Tuesday's practice. The Jets passing game, on the other hand, has a been a mess early in the camp with unproven receivers struggling to separate from defenders.

Seahawks signed WR Braylon Edwards to a one-year deal. The deal was first reported by Seattle 950's Dave Mahler. Unable to work out for teams as he rehabbed from the knee injury that limited him to nine games and 15 catches for the 49ers last season, Edwards' market came together fairly quickly after he proved his health. His hands and knee are obvious concerns, but Edwards could be an intriguing deep threat for the Seahawks if his legs are back underneath him. Edwards won't be guaranteed a roster spot until he proves his health in preseason games, but his signing isn't good news for Golden Tate and Ben Obomanu.

The Palm Beach Post expects the Dolphins to pass on free agent Braylon Edwards. "Don't expect the Braylon Edwards signing to happen," wrote beat writer Ben Volin. "Just kicking the tires on a big-name player, nothing more." Volin's story cited league sources, and coach Joe Philbin also indicated Edwards' Dolphins workout was no more than due diligence. Edwards does finally seem to be healthy, which bodes well for his odds of latching on somewhere.

According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins "privately believe" free agent WR Braylon Edwards (knee) is healthy. With no hint of irony, the Herald's Armando Salguero notes the organization is comfortable with Edwards' off-field behavior because he's been free of trouble since 2010. Although coach Joe Philbin downplayed the team's interest, the Herald maintains the Dolphins are interested in adding free agency's most intriguing veteran "for the right price and with the right timing."
