Dolphins coach Joe Philbin downplayed the team's recent free agent tryout of Braylon Edwards. "I want to say it was Tuesday or Wednesday I believe," Philbin said. "I think it's just our personnel guys doing their homework. I don't think it's anything more than that." The Miami Herald may have jumped the gun a bit when it reported Edwards had a "serious" chance to catch on with the Dolphins. It's been five or six days since the workout, and Edwards has not been signed.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald confirms the earlier report that free agent WR Braylon Edwards worked out for the Dolphins and says he has a "serious" chance of being signed. Salguero also mentioned that the team is interested in disgruntled Mike Wallace, should be become available. It sounds like new coach Joe Philbin is quickly realizing that his team is very weak at wide receiver. Chad Johnson and Edwards could realistically end up starting for Miami this season. Davone Bess' slot role doesn't figure to change, making Brian Hartline the big loser if Edwards is signed and makes the 53-man roster.

In an interview with Sirius XM radio, HBO Hard Knocks supervising producer Ken Rodgers revealed that free agent WR Braylon Edwards recently worked out for the Dolphins. Edwards had a workout with Seattle on Thursday, but they went with Antonio Bryant. Arguably the league's neediest team at wide receiver, Miami could give Edwards his best shot at landing a starting job. The 29-year-old will need to show that he's recovered from the knee injury that limited him to just 15 catches last season. The Dolphins did not immediately sign Edwards.

Free agent WR Braylon Edwards is working out for the Seahawks on Thursday. Seattle is looking at other veteran receivers as well, which isn't a good sign for Golden Tate's chances at carving out fantasy value opposite Sidney Rice. This is Edwards' first reported workout since the start of free agency, which suggests he's finally turned the corner in his rehab of a knee injury that has plagued him since last season.

The New York Post reports the Jets have "ruled out" free agent Braylon Edwards. Coach Rex Ryan hinted as much last week. The Jets have an unproven trio of Stephen Hill, Chaz Schilens and Jeremy Kerley behind Santonio Holmes, but are apparently happy at wideout. Edwards has been rehabbing his late-2011 knee injury for most of the offseason, and hasn't made any free agent visits.

Coach Rex Ryan indicated the Jets have not reached out to free agent Braylon Edwards about a potential signing. The Jets are pleased with the progress of rookie Stephen Hill as well as veteran newcomer Chaz Schilens. As of early last month, Edwards was still rehabbing the knee injury that limited him for the majority of the 2011 season.

Bengals OC Jay Gruden suggested the team is no longer in the market for a veteran wide receiver. Gruden, coach Marvin Lewis, and QB Andy Dalton all expressed confidence in the foursome of Brandon Tate, Mohamed Sanu, Armon Binns and Ryan Whalen, competing for the No. 2 receiver job. Gruden would be surprised if one of the four doesn't pan out, which suggests Braylon Edwards won't be strongly considered any time soon.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Bengals remain in wait-and-see mode with free agent Braylon Edwards. The Enquirer has been hinting for over a month that the Bengals are interested in Edwards, but he's apparently still rehabbing from his 2011 knee injury. At this point, the Bengals may wait to evaluate their young receiver corps for a few weeks in camp before making a final decision on Edwards.

Coach Marvin Lewis suggested that the Bengals won't be signing free agent Braylon Edwards any time soon. The Bengals certainly have plenty of room under the cap, but Lewis doesn't want to have "too many guys on the other side of their careers." The Bengals may revisit the possibility of signing Edwards once he proves that his knee is back to 100 percent.

The Cincinnati Enquirer confirms free agent Braylon Edwards is still rehabbing the knee injury that limited him for a majority of 2011. The torn right meniscus Edwards suffered in Week 2 last season was the main reason he appeared in only nine games. It's a major concern that the injury is still lingering, and explains why Edwards has made zero visits since the beginning of free agency. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that the Bengals and Jets are interested in Edwards, and Bengals beat writer Joe Reedy "wouldn't be surprised" if Edwards ended up in Cincinnati. Reedy doesn't expect any potential signing to happen before June, however.
