Aiding Gobert's scoring effort was another impressive display at the free-throw line, an area where he's made dramatic strides in 2016-17. He's upped his mark to 62.9 percent this season, a significant upgrade from his 59.4 percent career rate.

Gobert recorded 19 points (6-8 FG, 7-12 FT), 13 rebounds and two blocks across 32 minutes in Wednesday's 108-83 win over the Nuggets.

Gobert's main value still comes on the defensive end thanks to the imposing presence he provides near the rim, but the Jazz have upped his involvement on the offensive end recently. The 19 points were a season high for Gobert, who is averaging 12.0 points per game over his last seven games while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and 69 percent from the free-throw line.

Gobert had already scored 12 or 13 points in four other games this season, but the nine shot attempts were notable for the center, who hadn't exceeded six attempts in his prior seven contests. While the center will need to see a higher usage rate on the offensive end before he becomes a more consistent scoring threat, his contributions on the glass and as a shot blocker are matched by few other big men. Gobert has recorded exactly three rejections in five of the last six contests.

Gobert fouled out for the first time in 2016-17, but he was able to tie his season high in scoring before departing. It was just the second time in five games that he topped double digits in the scoring column, and he needed a nearly flawless outing from the field and free-throw line in order to do it. With just 5.3 field-goal attempts per game, Gobert isn't seeing enough volume to make a consistent impact on the offensive end, but his ample production as a rebounder and shot blocker will continue to prop up his fantasy value.

Gobert notched 12 points (3-5 FG, 6-14 FT), 12 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and one assist across 23 minutes in Wednesday's 97-81 win over the Mavericks.

EDGE Analysis

The newly-extended Gobert battled some foul trouble Wednesday that resulted in his fewest minutes of the season, but he was supremely effective during his time on the court and came away with his third double-double in five games. Gobert has cleared at least nine rebounds in every contest and has swatted two or more shots in all but one game, illustrating the kind of impact he provides as one of the league's top defensive centers.

Gobert compiled six points (1-4 FG, 4-6 FT), 12 rebounds and one assist during 33 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Spurs.

EDGE Analysis

Gobert continues to be limited on the offensive end of the floor, as he put up a season low in points and had to do most of his work from the free-throw line. The 24-year-old is only averaging 9.8 points per game despite shooting 50 percent from the floor this season. He also failed to record a block for the first time. Despite the slight struggles, Gobert still posted double-digit rebounds for the third time this season and the Jazz found a way to knock off the Spurs.

With the NBA's early contract extension deadline looming at midnight Monday, it appears Gobert and the Jazz have hammered out the framework of a long-term deal that will keep the big man in Utah for the foreseeable future. The 27th overall pick in the 2013 draft played sparingly as a rookie but has since emerged as one of the league's premier defensive players at any position.
