Gobert wasn't at his most efficient on the offensive end, but his towering frame stymied the Lakers on the interior, with Los Angeles' big-man rotation of Julius Randle, Timofey Mozgov, Tarik Black, Larry Nance and Thomas Robinson finishing with just 28 points on 10-for-22 shooting. The Jazz center now has two double-doubles under his belt in two games, but his playing time figures to trend closer to the 32 minutes he received Friday rather than the 40 he saw in Tuesday's season opener, especially now that Derrick Favors (knee) is healthy.

Gobert posted 12 points (4-7 FG, 4-4 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 41 minutes in Tuesday's 113-104 loss to the Trail Blazers.

The fact that Gobert saw such limited shot attempts over a high volume of minutes was disappointing, but the 7-foot-1 center did well to convert on his free throws, an area where he's expected to show significant improvement in 2016-17. In addition, he offered his customary strong contributions as a rebounder and shot blocker, and should be one of the league's top producers in those categories if health prevails. Gobert seems poised to turn in a career-best season in 2016-17.

Gobert managed 17 points (7-8 FG, 3-3 FT), 10 rebounds, three blocks and a steal over 26 minutes in Monday's 104-78 preseason win over the Clippers.

Gobert continues to make good on his promise to be an improved shooter in the coming season, particularly from the charity stripe, where he's now logged a 78 percent success rate (32-for-41) over five exhibitions. Despite the fact that's a small sample, those numbers are a marked improvement on the 56.9 percent that the Stifle Tower shot from the free-throw line last season. Gobert looks primed for what could be the best season of his career after rattling off double-digit scoring in four of five preseason tilts and notching double-doubles in three of those contests.

Gobert managed 17 points (3-6 FG, 11-15 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal over 19 minutes in Wednesday's 111-110 preseason loss to the Suns.

EDGE Analysis

The Stifle Tower recently proclaimed that his shooting would be vastly improved this season and continues to lend credence to that statement with his exhibition performances. Following Wednesday's effort, Gobert is now shooting 76 percent (29-for-38) from the charity stripe over four preseason contests, a considerable improvement over his 57 percent tally in that category last season. While the caveat about limited sample size applies, the 24-year-old does have double-digit scoring efforts in three of the first four exhibition contests, with double-doubles in two of those outings.

Gobert said that he made 25 free throws in a row during a recent practice, Andy Larsen of KSL.com reports. "My percentage is going to go way up this year," Gobert said.

EDGE Analysis

While it's not uncommon for professional athletes to use hyperbole when discussing their statistical expectations, it's realistic to buy some dramatic improvement in Gobert's free-throw shooting. The center hit 13-of-14 attempts from the charity stripe in a preseason game against the Suns last week, and has hit 18-of-23 (78.2%) through three contests. It seems unlikely he'll continue to run that hot from the line over the course of an 82-game schedule, but even a move closer to the 70 percent mark would be a substantial boon to Gobert's fantasy value after he hit just 56.9 percent of his free-throw attempts in 2015-16.

Gobert totaled 21 points (4-7 FG, 13-14 FT), 10 rebounds, three blocks and a steal over 28 minutes in Wednesday's 104-99 victory over the Suns.

EDGE Analysis

The Stifle Tower looked to be in mid-season form while tallying his first double-double of the exhibition slate. Gobert once again improved many of his numbers in 2015-16 over the prior season, finishing with averages of 9.1 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.2 blocks and 0.7 steals. He's expected to take another step forward in the coming campaign and will once again form one of the league's more formidable frontcourt tandems with Derrick Favors.

Gobert (ankle) announced Monday that he will suit up for France in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Jody Genessy of Deseret News reports.

EDGE Analysis

The French national team was able to win its Olympic qualifier Sunday sans Gobert, but they'll have the Stifle Tower in the fold as the team looks to make a run in Rio. Gobert skipped out on France's qualifying games as a means of resting the injured right ankle he sustained late in the regular season with the Jazz, while also reducing his offseason workload in preparation of the 2016-17 campaign. He should be at full strength when the Olympics begin in August and will likely serve as France's starting center.

Gobert (ankle) said he doesn't expect to play for France in the upcoming FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Kurt Kragthorpe of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

EDGE Analysis

Gobert suffered an ankle injury against Dallas on Monday and was held out of Wednesday's season finale loss to the Lakers. The ankle would likely be healed before the tournament, which begins July 4 in Belgrade, but it looks as though Gobert will lean toward getting extra rest. Gobert did note that he still intends to play for the national team should it qualify for the Rio Olympics later in the summer.

Gobert (ankle) did not make the trip to Los Angeles on Tuesday with the team, making it highly unlikely he plays in Wednesday's matchup with the Lakers, Aaron Falk of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

EDGE Analysis

Gobert has just over 24 hours till game time, so there's a very small chance he ends up making the trip on his own. With that being said, Gobert was seen on crutches following Monday's game and will most likely sit out, which is a tough blow for the Jazz in their last ditch effort to make the playoffs. Jeff Withey could move into the starting lineup in his place, although it seems more likely Derrick Favors is shifted over to center, with Trey Lyles getting the start at power forward.

Gobert (ankle) will not return to Monday's matchup with the Mavericks, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Gobert posted two points, six boards, and two assists in 12 minutes prior to exiting the game. He will likely be questionable heading into the season finale Wednesday. Given the importance of the game due to the playoff picture he will likely go if at all capable.
