Whiteside has been assigned to the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the D-League on Saturday. He had played just seven minutes in the Heat's last five games, so this makes sense. Look for him to continue to develop in the D-League, occasionally getting called up when the Heat have a need in the frontcourt.

Whiteside will be called up by the Heat, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. Through three games with Iowa in the D-League, Whiteside has averaged 22.0 points per game with 15.7 rebounds and 5.3 blocks. He'll likely be used sparingly by the Heat, but Whiteside may have a window to carve out a regular roster spot for the short term as the team's No. 3 center.

Whiteside was waived by the Grizzlies on Thursday, 3 Shades of Blue reports. Whiteside was added as insurance Wednesday with the team down their two backup centers. It appears the the Grizzlies feel Kosta Koufos will be able to return for their next game Saturday, as they have now gotten rid of their temporary replacement.

Whiteside was signed by the Grizzlies and is in uniform for Wednesday's game, 3 Shades of Blue reports. Kosta Koufos is out with a stomach virus, so Whiteside will serve as the team's only backup center Wednesday, although Marc Gasol will probably see close to 40 minutes if it is a close game.

Whiteside was cut by the Grizzlies on Wednesday, the Charlotte Observer reports. Whiteside spent the preseason with Memphis, but played just 41 minutes across five games. The 2010 second-rounder will now reconsider his playing options for this fall, with the D-League or overseas representing Whiteside's most likely destinations.

Whiteside could wind up making the Grizzlies given that they only have two centers on the roster right now. However, even if he does earn a deal beyond training camp, he'll be behind Marc Gasol and Kosta Koufos on the depth chart. Whiteside can safely be avoided in all leagues on draft-day.
