Doug Collins said that he plans to limit the minutes of Andrew Bynum, Kwame Brown, Jason Richardson and Dorell Wright this season. Bynum (knee) and Brown (calf) are both currently sidelined and we should have a better idea of their availability in the coming week, though Bynum was slated to tentatively begin practicing on October 24. Richardson has battled on-again, off-again knee problems, and Wright is expected to be an anchor of the second unit. With Bynum, the key for Collins will be for the big man to prevent his knee problems from returning once he's ultimately healthy enough to return.

Andrew Bynum's (knee) conditioning will "be a concern" when he begins practicing. Bynum is tentatively slated to begin practicing on October 24, but that date is in no way set in stone. This jives with what Rotoworld heard over the summer about Bynum's physical condition not being in peak form, and it's obvious that his conditioning won't be where it needs to be given that he's currently sidelined. We'll have a more definitive outlook on Bynum's status once we know how his knee responds to increased activity--fantasy owners and Sixers fans alike are holding their breath.

Andrew Bynum is scheduled for a Synvisc injection in his right knee next Monday. The hope is it will lubricate his joint and get him closer to playing again. He's had the same injection in the past and it's not all that surprising this is happening. However, we still don't have a target date for him to be back on the court, other than that he's "hoping" to begin practicing the final week of October. We've dropped Bynum on our cheat sheets to reflect the concern with his knee, but if he is healthy and makes it through the season, he has an excellent chance to finish as the highest ranked center in fantasy. He's a textbook definition of a risk vs. reward player this season.

Andrew Bynum (knee) will soon undergo a scheduled injection to lubricate his knees and reduce pain. Bynum is still tentatively planning to return the last week of October, but this does nothing to ease our concerns about his knee. He's not a lock to play in the Sixers' season opener, and at the very least his conditioning will be a question mark.

Doug Collins confirmed on Saturday that Andrew Bynum (knee) is unlikely to play in another preseason game, and he suggested that Bynum could be sidelined into the regular season. "If Andrew misses some games, we've got to be prepared to win some games without him," Collins said. "Obviously, when he's out there, our team is going to be a lot different." Fantasy owners (and Sixers fans) shouldn't panic, but this is a growing concern -- Bynum's knees have been problematic for years, and it doesn't seem like the platelet-rich plasma treatment he underwent this summer was the 'miracle cure' it has been for other athletes. The regular season begins in two weeks, and Bynum is under our microscope.

Andrew Bynum spoke the media on Monday and said he's unsure of when he'll be able to return from his sore knee, although he also says it's getting better. "I'm not sure," Bynum said when asked when he'll be ready. "It's really up to the trainers and the doctors right now, but I think if all the beans were on the table right now I'd be out there. It definitely feels better. A lot of it has to do with my pain threshold. It's just to the point where I can't run up and down with the team right now." This is obviously a huge concern and you have to think his conditioning will be an issue early in the season as well. He's watching film and trying to learn a new offense, but his knee is going to have to heal quickly if he's going to make the impact we're all expecting in Philadelphia. He still has a chance to be the best fantasy center in the league, but his early knee problems are definitely something to be concerned about. Hopefully he's ready by opening night, if not sooner. For now, Kwame Brown is the starting C in Philly.

Andrew Bynum, who will miss most of training camp due to a bone bruise in his knee, is said to be in "great condition," according to the Inquirer's John Mitchell. "He's trim. He's engaging his teammates and coaches. And if they were playing games right now, Bynum would be out there," Mitchell wrote. That might be an optimistic take, as Bynum was shut down for three weeks due to his knee condition, while Rotoworld also heard from a source over the summer that suggested Bynum wasn't in top physical shape entering camp. But if the plan of rest works and Bynum really is in tip-top shape, he should have a dominant season in Philly, and could be the No. 1 center to own in fantasy. He's due back on the court around October 24, when we should know much more about how he's going to look in the early part of the season.

Andrew Bynum (knees) did "serious work" on an elliptical on Tuesday. Bynum will be limited to low-impact conditioning drills while he's sidelined, and he appears committed to remaining in shape and getting back on the court as soon as possible. As of now, he's tentatively expected to be ready for opening night, but as we've seen in the past, Bynum's knees are anything but predictable. He remains a top-shelf fantasy center when healthy.

Andrew Bynum (knee) will be held out of basketball activities for three weeks as a "precautionary measure." Bynum went to Germany for what was labeled as routine maintenance on his knee, but he's been diagnosed with a bone bruise and the Sixers will be extra cautious with their big offseason acquisition. He will be allowed to do conditioning drills, so it's not as if he's sitting out doing nothing. Still, it's a less than stellar way for Bynum to begin his tenure in Philly. We're watching the health of his knee very closely before the season begins. Spencer Hawes, Lavoy Allen and Kwame Brown would all see a bump in minutes if Bynum is forced to miss time.

The Sixers have not spoken to Andrew Bynum's agent about a contract extension. It simply makes more financial sense for Bynum to wait until season's end before signing a new contract. Bynum had previously said that he could envision himself in Philly for a long time, and the Sixers made this trade to land a franchise player. For what it's worth, Bynum's agent said he hasn't seen the big man "this happy in a long time." Philadelphia can give him a five-year deal worth approximately $100 million in the 2013 offseason.
