In his first press conference with his new team Andrew Bynum, a free agent at season's end, mentioned that he's already considering signing an extension with the 76ers.
Bynum, who will wear number 33 with Philadelphia, averaged a career high 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds last season and sat in front of fans applauding the newly acquired All-Star as he announced "I'm leaning toward making this my home." If Bynum does in fact sign long-term with Philadelphia, the Sixers will have pulled off quite a coup getting a young big man just about to enter his prime. Bynum should be a low-first, early-second round draft pick in most fantasy leagues this season.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was once again critical of Andrew Bynum following the Dwight Howard trade, referring to the deal as a "coup" for the Lakers.
This is notable because Abdul-Jabbar has now gone on the record several times against Bynum. "Dwight is very committed to playing and winning," he said. "Andrew has been up and down on that issue. There are times he wants to play, do a great job, and he does out and does it. Then there are other times where it seems like he's not focused." Bynum was reportedly uninterested in working with Abdul-Jabbar beyond 2009, and now that he's going to be the man in Philly, there will only be question marks about him until he proves capable of living up to the task.

A source has said that Andrew Bynum will undergo a precautionary non-invasive knee procedure in early September in Germany.
While details are still a bit murky, it is expected that this won't hold Bynum back from being ready for the start of training camp in October. Bynum had a breakout season last year, but he's had well-documented issues of staying healthy over his career. We wouldn't knock him down any of your pre-draft rankings just yet.

Sixers president Rod Thorn feels his team has "a very good chance" to extend Andrew Bynum's contract or retain him as a free agent.
"Firstly, I've had a conversation with him," said Thorn. "He's very happy about getting traded to us. He thinks we have a good team and he's very happy about it. He's from New Jersey, he's more an East Coast guy than a West Coast guy." Bynum will be an unrestricted FA next summer, but the Sixers can offer him more years and more money than any other team.

Andrew Bynum has been traded to the Philadelphia Sixers, according to ESPN.com.
Things worked out nicely for Bynum here. The New Jersey native heads to a competitive team where he will be the centerpiece of the offense. Bynum should have plenty of fantasy value as long as he stays healthy.

The Magic "would get neither Pau Gasol nor Andrew Bynum" in the proposed Dwight Howard deal, according to Ken Berger or CBSSports.com
An earlier report from Yahoo! had Gasol going to Orlando in the proposed deal and both reports have Bynum headed to Philly. When there are four teams involved, many problems can arise in blockbusters like this one. Stay tuned.

Contrary to media accounts in which Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak said last week that the Lakers had begun discussions about an extension with Andrew Bynum, his agent said no such talks have been made.
"[The discussion] was cordial and it was productive, but it had nothing to do with an extension," said Bynum's agent. According to figures provided by independent collective bargaining agreement expert Larry Coon, Bynum could add three years and $57.1 million to his existing contract if he signed an extension. By comparison, if Bynum re-signed after next season, he could command a maximum five-year, $101.9 million deal. In all likelihood, Bynum will play out this season's trade drama and look to re-sign the $100+ million deal at the end of the year, whether it be with the Lakers or another team as part of a Dwight Howard trade. Stay tuned.

Andrew Bynum's agent spoke with the Lakers on Wednesday about a possible contract extension for his client.
Bynum averaged 18.7 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks last season, and his agent is surely seeking a max extension. The Lakers have stated their intention to keep him long-term, but they may not commit to anything before they've exhausted all possibilities of acquiring and extending Dwight Howard.

David Lee, the agent for Lakers center Andrew Bynum, said he hasn't heard from the Cavaliers regarding the rumored three-team trade involving Dwight Howard, the Cavs and Lakers.
He went on to say that he was "baffled" by the reports of the possible trade, suggesting that nothing is happening if Bynum's not involved in the discussions. Chris Broussard and Ric Bucher are both reporting that a Dwight-to-Lakers, Bynum-to-Cavs deal is a distinct possibility, but this is also an indication that talks are probably still in their infancy.

If he doesn't extend his contract with the Lakers, Andrew Bynum reportedly has a short list of teams he would consider as a free agent in 2013 -- the Rockets, Mavericks and Cavaliers.
This might throw cold water on the Lakers' attempts to package Bynum in a deal for Dwight Howard, since Bynum "has shown no inclination to agree to an immediate extension if sent to Orlando." The Nets could face a similar conundrum in a package centered around Brook Lopez, since Lopez would have to agree to join the Magic -- so far he's been remarkably silent about his constant inclusion in trade talks.
