Johnson (ankle) took part in the Celtics' morning shootaround and indicated that he would "try to play" Friday against the Hawks, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Celtics are already shorthanded Friday with three players (Avery Bradley, Tyler Zeller and James Young) remaining back in Boston to recover from injury or illness, but on a fortunate note, it appears Johnson will attempt to tough it out, despite not being fully over the sprained ankle that sidelined him Wednesday against the Wizards. Jordan Mickey ended up starting at power forward in that contest, but assuming Johnson incurs no further setbacks leading up to game time, Johnson could take his usual role on the top unit. That being said, coach Brad Stevens would likely be reluctant to hand Johnson big minutes, making him unworthy of consideration in DFS contests.

Johnson (ankle) traveled with the team to Atlanta for Friday's matchup with the Hawks, Scott Souza of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson joining the team on the trip is a positive sign, but his status for the game remains in jeopardy after the Celtics deemed him doubtful as of Wednesday evening. The big man will be evaluated at shootaround Friday, at which point it should become more clear whether or not he'll be available. Boston will already be without Tyler Zeller, who will miss his seventh straight game due to illness.

Johnson (ankle), who's already been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards, is also considered doubtful for Friday's matchup with the Hawks, Jay King of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson is dealing with sprained ankle and it's severe enough to the point where the Celtics aren't expected to have him available for either of their next two contests. That makes Monday's tilt with the Hornets the next opportunity for Johnson to take the court, although that will depend on how his ankle responds to treatment over the weekend. Jordan Mickey has been announced as a starter in his place and should see a significant increase in minutes, while guys like Kelly Olynyk and Jonas Jerebko should also see a bigger role off the bench.

Johnson will not play Wednesday against the Wizards, A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson turned an ankle Tuesday against the Raptors, limiting him to 16 minutes in the 114-106 loss. The 29-year-old had the ankle wrapped in the locker room after the game, and with pain persisting Wednesday, he'll be held out on the second night of the back-to-back set. In his absence, Kelly Olynyk or Jonas Jerebko will likely move into the starting five, with Tyler Zeller (sinus) in line for increased minutes, assuming he's cleared to play.

Johnson provided 17 points (6-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists and two steals across 26 minutes in a 117-112 loss to the Thunder on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
It was the second-best scoring output of the season for Johnson, who seemingly remains secure in his role as the starting power forward, though he won't often see starter-level minutes. Johnson has at least gotten over the 20-minute mark in four straight contests, but his averages of 10.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game during that stretch won't really make him a must-add player in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Johnson produced 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and one assist across 23 minutes in Wednesday's 117-87 win in Orlando.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson returned to the starting lineup after playing only five minutes during Monday's loss in Houston. Overall, this was a nice team win for Boston, as Johnson was one of seven Celtics to score in double digits. For the first four games of December, Johnson is averaging a modest 6.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per game.

Johnson will start at power forward in Wednesday's game against the Magic, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson came off the bench in Monday's game against the Rockets after head coach Brad Stevens elected to give Jonas Jerebko a spot start at power forward. Johnson ended up playing just five minutes against a fast-paced Houston team to Jerebko's 21, but it's likely Johnson sees his regular minutes again against an Orlando team that boasts plenty of size in the frontcourt.

Johnson will come off the bench for Monday's game against the Rockets, Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Brad Stevens made a late decision to go with Jonas Jerebko as his starting power forward Monday, meaning Johnson will be relegated to a bench role. Johnson is averaging just over 20 minutes per game this season, but could see a slight decrease now that he's working with the second unit. It remains to be seen whether this is just a one-game experiment or if it's an arrangement that will last for some time.

Johnson was held without a point (0-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and collected two rebounds, one block and one steal across 17 minutes in Friday's 109-103 loss to the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
The Celtics are now at full health in the frontcourt with Kelly Olynyk returning from a shoulder injury and Al Horford returning from a concussion earlier this month, but Johnson hasn't been forced out of his starting role at power forward. However, the team's ample frontcourt depth has resulted in a downturn in minutes for Johnson, who hasn't helped his case by being supremely unproductive during his limited time on the floor. He's tallied a combined six points over his past four games while shooting 3-of-14 from the floor during that span. If Johnson continues to languish, Olynyk could take his spot in the lineup alongside Horford.

Johnson notched 11 points (5-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block across 24 minutes in Wednesday's 118-93 loss to the Wizards.
EDGE Analysis
Since pouring in 23 points in the Celtics' first game without Al Horford (concussion), Johnson has reverted back to turning in more muted offensive production. He's amassed only 18 points in total over the past three games, while attempting no more than five shots in any of those contests. Johnson doesn't seem to be in any immediate danger of losing his starting role, but with Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) making his season debut Wednesday and Horford due back soon, Johnson could see his playing time fall from the 21.6 minutes per game he's averaged through seven outings.
