Johnson will be replaced by Gerald Green in the starting lineup for Friday's Game 3 versus the Bulls.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson's benching comes after he played merely nine minutes in Tuesday's Game 2 loss to Chicago. The big man is averaging just 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds this series, so in an attempt to shake things up, and hopefully help the rebound-desperate Celtics, coach Brad Stevens has plugged Green in his place to stretch the floor and potentially force the Bulls into smaller lineups.

Johnson produced a meager four points (2-3 FG) and two rebounds from nine minutes during Tuesday's critical 111-97 Game 2 loss to Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson was part of a starting Celtics unit that was blown out by the Bulls' starting five, who each had a plus-minus of +17 or higher. Coach Brad Stevens, in an attempt to change tempo, replaced Johnson with Tyler Zeller to start the second half. Johnson is one of many Celtics, outside if Isaiah Thomas, who seem overwhelmed by the playoff pressure. Expect Stevens to further tinker with minutes in Friday's Game 3 match-up in Chicago.

Brown supplied five points (2-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-3 FT), four rebounds, two steals and one block across 18 minutes in Sunday's Game 1 106-102 loss to the Bulls.
EDGE Analysis
In hindsight, maybe the power forward deserved more minutes as the Bulls out rebounded the Celtics 53 to 36. On the other hand, Johnson's poor shooting didn't help, either. Coach Brad Stevens might mix things up Tuesday in Game 2 to better address the rebounding problem.

Johnson (illness) will play Monday against Brooklyn, Scott Souza of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was the expectation after Johnson took part in shootaround earlier in the day, and he'll likely return to the starting lineup, pushing Kelly Olynyk back to the bench.

Johnson (illness) was on the court at shootaround Monday, Scott Souza of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The big man missed Saturday's game against the Hornets due to illness, but his participation at shootaround would seem to imply that he'll return to availability Monday against the Nets. If that's indeed the case, he'd likely reclaim his spot in the starting lineup from Kelly Olynyk.

Johnson will not play in Saturday's matchup versus the Hornets due to an illness, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The absence will be Johnson's first since Jan. 11. Look for Kelly Olynyk and Jonas Jerebko to pick up the majority of Johnson's minutes. His next chance to return will be Monday against the Nets, but do not be surprised if the Celtics opt to play it cautious with the big man in order to ensure his health heading into the playoffs.

Johnson, who picked up an ankle injury in Friday's win over the Magic, has been cleared to play Sunday against the Knicks, Jay King of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson hurt his ankle after landing on the foot of the Magic's Nikola Vucevic in the first half Friday, but he was able to stay in the game, finishing with five points (1-1 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. It's expected that he'll start at power forward as usual and face no minute restrictions.

Johnson contributed 14 points (6-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and two steals across 27 minutes during Sunday's 112-108 victory over the Heat.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson did it all Sunday against a surging Heat team, making all of his shot attempts, rebounding well, setting up his teammates to score and being a defensive presence. He tied his season-high five assists and managed his best scoring effort since he dropped 14 points Feb. 8 against the Kings. As the Celtics look to boost their playoff seeding, they'll need Johnson to bring it every night as the starter at power forward next to center Al Horford. He'll look to have another impressive performance Wednesday against the Bucks.

Johnson totaled six points (2-5 FG, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block over 24 minutes in Monday's 116-102 loss to the Clippers.
EDGE Analysis
Despite Al Horford sitting out again Monday with an elbow injury, Johnson couldn't quite duplicate his strong production from the previous two outings, when he'd turned in matching 13-point efforts. Johnson's shot attempts were down from the respective seven and 11 he'd put in the last pair of contests, and he did not attempt a three-pointer after uncorking a total of seven shots from behind the arc against the Lakers and Suns. Johnson continues to be the most dependable in the area of rebounds and assists, but his scoring totals continue to fluctate between single and double digits pretty frequently.

Johnson finished with 13 points (5-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and one steal across 27 minutes during Sunday's 109-106 loss to the Suns.
EDGE Analysis
With Al Horford (elbow) out, Amir Johnson was asked to assume his role, and came up big on both sides of the ball. The 29-year-old big man is only averaging 6.4 points and 4.6 rebounds across 19.6 minutes per game, but has stepped up when called upon to play extra minutes. While he's likely only valuable in deep year-long fantasy leagues, he's a strong play in DFS whenever he's in for additional workload.
