The Rangers will announce their plan for Darvish (elbow) on Wednesday, MLB.com reports. Darvish's spring debut was cut short after just one inning with what was first labeled right triceps tightness, but a subsequent MRI revealed a much more serious issue. The exam revealed a sprain to the ulnar collateral ligament, an injury which may very well require Tommy John surgery, though the Rangers sent Darvish to New York on Monday for a second opinion from Mets medical director Dr. David Altcheck. Even if Darvish is spared Tommy John surgery, he likely wouldn't be able to throw for at least six weeks, meaning a four-month absence would probably be a best-case scenario.

Darvish has been diagnosed with a sprained UCL, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports. Tommy John surgery is being discussed, with an MRI showing damage to the UCL in Darvish's throwing elbow. It appears to be crushing blow to a Rangers team that dealt with countless injuries last year, but until the club receives additional consultation, there will not be an official decision regarding surgery. Darvish left Thursday's spring game with what was first labeled right triceps tightness.

Darvish exited Thursday's spring training game for precautionary reasons with tightness in his right triceps, but it's not believed to be serious. Darvish was pulled after one inning because of the injury, but with his elbow issues dating back to last season, there is definitely cause for concern. The situation is something that should be monitored over the next few days, as the Rangers will likely provide an update on his status at some point in the near future.

Darvish (elbow) has been cleared to begin throwing on his normal schedule, MLB.com reports. A bout of elbow inflammation ended Darvish's season in August, but the right-hander checked out in an MRI and a subsequent examination in Arlington on Tuesday. Currently restricted to a training program, he is expected to start up with his throwing early next month. Although Darvish's WHIP jumped by close to 20 points in 2014, he maintained a strikeout rate above 30 percent (30.1%) while trimming his walk rate to a career-low 8.1 percent.

Darvish (elbow) will have his MRI postponed until early next week, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. The reason for the delay is unknown, but it likely won't impact Darvish's offseason timetable. He's had the MRI scheduled for several weeks, and a clean bill of health will allow him to go forward with his usual offseason routine, which typically doesn't involve throwing until December.
