The Rangers will announce their plan for Darvish (elbow) on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.
Darvish's spring debut was cut short after just one inning with what was first labeled right triceps tightness, but a subsequent MRI revealed a much more serious issue. The exam revealed a sprain to the ulnar collateral ligament, an injury which may very well require Tommy John surgery, though the Rangers sent Darvish to New York on Monday for a second opinion from Mets medical director Dr. David Altcheck. Even if Darvish is spared Tommy John surgery, he likely wouldn't be able to throw for at least six weeks, meaning a four-month absence would probably be a best-case scenario.
