Manager Ron Washington is still unsure if Darvish (elbow) will travel with the team on next week's road trip, Fox Sports Southwest's Anthony Andro reports. The team will travel to Seattle following Sunday's game, followed by trips to Houston and Kansas City on a road trip that lasts until Sept. 3, so it's possible Darvish could be held out until early September, and possibly beyond.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said Tuesday that he's "backing off" his announced intent for Darvish (elbow) to pitch Aug. 25 against Seattle, the Dallas Morning News reports. The skipper said last Friday that he had been given no indication that Darvish would need more than the minimum 15 days required his DL stint, but he backtracked Tuesday, saying simply "I don't know what's going to happen there." Darvish has not thrown in the week since he hit the DL, and while the team has not suggested the right-hander is dealing with anything more significant than the original diagnosis of inflammation, Darvish's status for a return is completely up in the air at the moment.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said Friday that he expects Darvish (elbow) to return to the rotation Aug. 25 against the Mariners, the Dallas Morning News reports. Whereas Darvish created some doubt as to his short-term outlook Thursday, saying "I don't want to go out there and risk my future," Washington was clear in his desire to get the right-hander back as soon as possible. Washington said that he has been given "no indication that it would be more than 15 days" for Darvish, who has been diagnosed with just mild elbow inflammation. The Rangers will be able to get by without a fifth starter in the interim.

Darvish has been diagnosed with mild elbow inflammation, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. An MRI confirmed the original diagnosis of elbow inflammation for Darvish, who will wait until the pain subsides before resuming a throwing program. The Rangers reportedly don't think the issue is a long-term concern, and Darvish suggested he could pitch through the injury but he just doesn't want to risk his future. Regardless, it's uncertain whether Darvish return this season.

Darvish (elbow) will undergo an MRI, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. The Rangers understandably want to know the full extent of Darvish's injury before deciding on a course of action, so they'll send him for additional testing Thursday. GM Jon Daniels said he doesn't think the ligament is involved. Darvish was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday with what has been tentatively labeled elbow inflammation, and Robbie Ross will be recalled to start in his place Thursday.

Darvish was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday with right elbow inflammation, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. Darvish reported feeling soreness while playing catch Monday, and with the way this season has gone for the Rangers, it's hardly a surprise that they've decided to shut him down for the time being. He'll be eligible to return Aug. 25, but it's too early to tell whether he'll be ready by then. Robbie Ross will start in his absence Thursday.

Darvish struck out seven and walked four while giving up six runs -- five earned -- on nine hits over four innings in a losing effort Saturday night. Saturday's start marked the fifth time in the last 10 outings that Darvish has allowed four or more runs. By all accounts, he's healthy, so there's little reason to be concerned in that regard, but the bullpen protecting his leads and offense providing his run support leave plenty to be desired. He'll make his third attempt at collecting win No. 11 on the season Thursday against the Rays in Arlington.

Darvish was unlucky to have no say in the decision Sunday, as he held the Indians to one run over seven innings while striking out eight batters.
