Darvish (elbow) will undergo an MRI, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. The Rangers understandably want to know the full extent of Darvish's injury before deciding on a course of action, so they'll send him for additional testing Thursday. GM Jon Daniels said he doesn't think the ligament is involved. Darvish was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday with what has been tentatively labeled elbow inflammation, and Robbie Ross will be recalled to start in his place Thursday.

Darvish was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday with right elbow inflammation, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. Darvish reported feeling soreness while playing catch Monday, and with the way this season has gone for the Rangers, it's hardly a surprise that they've decided to shut him down for the time being. He'll be eligible to return Aug. 25, but it's too early to tell whether he'll be ready by then. Robbie Ross will start in his absence Thursday.

Darvish struck out seven and walked four while giving up six runs -- five earned -- on nine hits over four innings in a losing effort Saturday night. Saturday's start marked the fifth time in the last 10 outings that Darvish has allowed four or more runs. By all accounts, he's healthy, so there's little reason to be concerned in that regard, but the bullpen protecting his leads and offense providing his run support leave plenty to be desired. He'll make his third attempt at collecting win No. 11 on the season Thursday against the Rays in Arlington.

Yu Darvish allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings and took the loss on Wednesday against the Yankees in a rain-shortened affair. Darvish made a couple of mistakes in the third inning, talking in Francisco Cervelli to tie the game at 1-1, then allowing a solo home run to Brett Gardner to make it a 2-1 game. Overall, Darvish allowed four hits, walked none, and struck out five. Darvish now owns a 2.92 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 159/42 K/BB ratio. He'll face the Yankees again in his next start, this time at home on Monday.

Yu Darvish turned in a rocky start against the Astros on Wednesday, giving up six runs and 10 hits in six innings. This makes four times in five starts and five times in seven that Darvish has given up at least four runs. He's still striking out plenty of batters, and while the walks have been up, that wasn't a factor tonight. Instead, he was just hit harder than practically any other time in his career. It's the second time in 78 major league starts that he's given up 10 hits and the second time he's given up at least five extra-base hits (he allowed six).
