Wei-Yin Chen tossed six innings of two-run ball against the Royals Saturday, but ended up with a no-decision.
Chen struck out five, walked one and gave up six hits. He left with a 3-2 lead, but the Orioles' bullpen gave up a run in both the seventh and eighth innings. Chen has now given up two earned runs or fewer in seven of his nine starts. He'll have to travel to Tampa Bay for his next outing.

Wei-Yin Chen got roughed up for six runs on eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings of Sunday's loss to the Nationals.
He struck out five and walked three. Chen was staked to an early 3-0 lead, but ended turning in his shortest start of the season. The non-quality outing was just his second in his past six outings. Now the owner of a 3.35 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 37/17 K/BB ratio through his first 48 1/3 MLB innings, Chen will get the Royals at home next weekend.

Wei-Yin Chen yielded two runs in 7 2/3 innings to beat the Rangers in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader.
Chen's proving to be quite the flyball pitcher, but while Colby Lewis gave up five homers for Texas today, Chen kept all of the flies he allowed in the park. He's now 3-0 with a 2.68 ERA in six starts. AL hitters may have more luck against him the second time through, but he could remain a nice asset in fantasy leagues through the conclusion of interleague play next month.

Wei-Yin Chen pitched decently, allowing three runs on five hits over five innings against the Red Sox on Friday.
Chen struck out four and walked three in the game, and needed 100 pitches to labor through five innings of work. He was in line to pick up his first major league loss, until the Orioles rallied late to take him off the hook. He remains 2-0 on the season, though he still owns an impressive 2.76 ERA. He'll attempt to get back to his winning ways when he takes on the Rangers next week.

Wei-Yin Chen pitched a nice game against the A's on Sunday, allowing just one run and six hits in seven innings.
He struck out four and walked two on the night. Chen was staked to a big lead early on, and mowed down the A's lineup with a steady diet of strikes. The lone Oakland run came courtesy of a Jonny Gomes solo shot in the sixth inning. Chen is now 2-0 with an impressive 2.22 ERA on the season. He'll look to continue his surprising early-season dominance when he takes on the Red Sox next week at Fenway Park.

Wei-Yin Chen pitched well in his MLB debut against the Yankees on Tuesday, allowing two runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Chen struck out six and walked only one on the night. Derek Jeter tagged him for a solo home run leading off the game, and then Chen settled in nicely, retiring 12 in a row at one point. He did seem to tire in the sixth inning, throwing 101 pitches in total. The Orioles have to be pleased with his debut, and he'll try to build on this success against the White Sox next week.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter is considering skipping Wei-Yin Chen in the rotation following his debut on April 10 against the Yankees.
That would mean Chen wouldn't make his second start of the year until April 20. Whether he's skipped or not will likely be decided based on his results against the Yankees, though Showalter says he wants to give Chen as much time as possible to get adjusted to playing in the US. The lefty was pounded for seven runs in his final spring outing.

Wei-Yin Chen gave up seven runs -- three earned -- in five innings Sunday in a loss to the Rays.
A breeze out to center had something to do with him giving up three homers on the day, but it wasn't a very good sign that he couldn't manage a single strikeout. Chen would have been a big-time sleeper in AL-only leagues had he recovered some of the velocity he was showing in Japan a couple of years ago. Since he hasn't, he's probably just a No. 4 starter for Baltimore.

Wei-Yin Chen allowed three runs and six hits in five innings Saturday against the Red Sox.
Chen's velocity hasn't come back as hoped this spring (he lost a few mph off his fastball in his final season in Japan), so he isn't looking like a great bet for fantasy purposes. He should be able to hold his own as is, but Orioles pitchers have it much tougher than most and it makes fantasy value tough to come by.

Wei-Yin Chen held the Blue Jays to a run over three innings in a loss Monday.
Chen allowed two hits, walked one and struck out two in another solid performance. He's looking like a great bet to land a spot in Baltimore's rotation.
