The Orioles will skip Wei-Yin Chen on his next turn through the starting rotation.
Chen only threw 164 2/3 innings last season for the Chunichi Dragons of Japan's Central League and is already up to 151 frames in his first year with the Orioles. The hope is that the extra week of rest will keep him fresh.

Wei-Yin Chen was disastrous in Thursday's loss to the Royals, surrendering a career-high seven runs on nine hits in his 4 2/3 innings.
Chen walked two and punched out five in the game. He hadn't allowed an earned run over his previous two starts, but took a major step backwards with this performance. The Royals jumped on him for a pair of homers in the very first inning, with Alex Gordon leading off with a solo shot, and Billy Butler adding a three-run blast. The 26-year-old lefty will take a 10-7 record and 3.79 ERA into Wednesday's start against the Red Sox at home.

Wei-Yin Chen was solid despite a loss to the Rays Tuesday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over 6 2/3 innings.

Wei-Yin Chen pitched a terrific ballgame in a no-decision against the Tigers, allowing just one run on two hits over his six innings.
After a leadoff walk to Austin Jackson in the first inning, Prince Fielder delivered a two-out RBI double providing the Tigers only run of the game. Chen then settled in and retired 15 straight hitters until a walk to Ramon Santiago in the sixth inning. He left with a 4-1 lead that Jim Johnson would inevitably surrender in the ninth inning. Chen has been the Orioles best starting pitcher as of late, posting an 7-5 record, 3.80 ERA and 83/35 K/BB ratio through 109 innings in his rookie season. He'll look to carry over the momentum from this strong outing when he faces the Twins in Minnesota on Thursday.

He was removed with two on in the seventh, and both runners eventually rode home on an Asdrubal Cabrera home run. He'll look to continue the strong start to his MLB career when he takes on the Braves in Atlanta on Sunday. At this point, Chen should definitely be owned and started in most mixed fantasy leagues.

Wei-Yin Chen was hit hard by the Rays on Friday, giving up five runs on five hits in his 5 1/3 innings.
Chen struck out five and walked four in the game. All of the damage occurred in the first inning, with a two-run homer from Hideki Matsui capping off the scoring. Chen settled in nicely afterwards and did enough to keep his team in the game, but David Price was just too good on the other side. With the loss, Chen falls to 4-2 on the season and raises his ERA to a more pedestrian 3.90. He'll try to get back in the win column when he squares off against the Red Sox in Boston on Wednesday.
