Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) threw a bullpen session on Saturday. Chen has yet to be cleared for a rehab assignment, but hasn't had any setbacks since resuming a throwing program earlier this month. The Orioles remain optimistic that he can return from the DL in time to make a few starts before the All-Star break.

Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) had no issues throwing off a half-mound on Thursday. Chen will progress to a full-mound session Saturday, then join the Orioles on their roadtrip to continue workouts. Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun notes that Orioles pitching coach Rick Adair wants to see him throw at least once on the road before the team clears him for a rehab assignment, so it sounds like he's still a couple of weeks away.

Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) will throw off a half mound on Thursday. He was cleared to do so after playing long toss again on Tuesday. Chen has already missed a month with an oblique strain and is probably still at least another couple weeks away from a return.

Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) threw from a distance of 120 feet Saturday. Chen continues to make progress in his throwing program and could be cleared for a bullpen session in the next 1-2 weeks. The 27-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since May 12 with a strained oblique.

Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) threw from a distance of 90 feet Friday. Chen was throwing from 60 and 75 feet earlier this week, so he is gradually stretching things out. It shouldn't be too much longer before he gets back on the mound. The 27-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since May 12 with a strained oblique.

Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) made 25 tosses from 60 and 75 feet Tuesday. It's the first time he's thrown since an oblique strain sent him to the DL three weeks ago. Chen will throw again on Wednesday before the next step is determined.

Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) will resume a throwing program Tuesday. It will be the first time Chen has thrown since being placed on the disabled list. While it's a step in the right direction, the Orioles don't expect him to return until mid-June, at the earliest.

There remains no timetable for Wei-Yin Chen's (oblique) return from the disabled list. It's been three weeks since Chen strained his right oblique, but he's yet to even throw on flat ground, having only jogged in a pool to this point. The Orioles will obviously have a better idea when he might return once he throws from a mound, but the best-case scenario is we see him back in mid-June.

Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) will head to the Orioles' spring training complex Tuesday to begin his rehab. Chen landed on the 15-day disabled list May 13 with a strained right oblique and can't pick up a baseball for at least another week. But he's allowed to do cardio work while he waits. The right-hander should be ready to rejoin the O's starting rotation in early June.

Orioles placed RHP Wei-Yin Chen on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 13, with a strained right oblique. Chen left Sunday's start with a right oblique strain and will rest for a bit before returning to throwing. Jair Jurrjens is the most likely candidate to take his place in the starting rotation.
