Skaggs was scratched from his scheduled start against the Blue Jays on Thursday due to right hamstring tightness.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels are considering Skaggs day-to-day for the time being and are expected to reevaluate him Friday before determining if a trip to the disabled list is necessary. John Lamb stepped in to start in Skaggs' place Thursday, while Parker Bridwell could enter the rotation if Skaggs is forced onto the shelf.

EDGE Analysis
No reason has been provided as to why Skaggs was scratched just a few hours before his scheduled start. John Lamb, who was originally scheduled to start Friday, will step in to start Thursday's series opener.

Skaggs (4-4) allowed four hits and walked three while striking out six across six scoreless innings to earn the win Sunday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs wasn't dominant -- he generated only 11 swinging strikes -- but worked six effective innings to keep the Rangers bats' quiet. Despite walking three batters, he managed to escape without damage thanks to allowing only one extra-base hit, a double to Shin Soo-Choo. It was the first time in four starts that Skaggs didn't allow a home run, and the result was a nice bounceback effort after he allowed five earned runs in his last outing.

Skaggs (3-2) took the loss Monday against the Tigers after allowing five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five across five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs' outing took a significant hit after he surrendered a grand slam to James McCann in the bottom of the third inning. He's been scuffling of late, failing to pick up a win since April 23 against Houston, although there's little evidence to suggest he can't turn around his recent struggles as he sports a 3.60 ERA over 11 outings this season. He next turn in the rotation figures to come Saturday against Texas.

Skaggs allowed two earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out seven across 5.1 innings Saturday against the Mariners. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs had very little difficulty recording outs his first two times through the Mariners' lineup, but ran into trouble the third time through the order. That began in the sixth inning when he allowed a single and two consecutive doubles to the first three batters he faced, which accounted for both of his earned runs. A relatively short outing with plenty of strikeouts is nothing new for Skaggs, as he has pitched six or more innings only twice in seven starts this season. However, he has maintained a solid strikeout rate and ratios through 38 innings pitched, making him someone to consider in most league formats.

Skaggs (3-2) took the loss Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out eight over 5.1 innings against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The lone blemish on Skaggs' ledger was a two-run home run off the bat of Gary Sanchez, but the Angels offense couldn't muster up enough support to spare him of the loss. The eight strikeouts were a season best, and Sunday's outing marked the fifth time in six starts the lefty allowed two runs or fewer. He'll look to get back in the win column next time out, when he's lined up to take on the Mariners next weekend.

Skaggs (3-1) tossed seven shutout innings and allowed just four hits and a walk with three strikeouts to earn the win Monday over Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs worked efficiently, as he used 11 ground balls to finish seven inning for the first time this season. The key was his ability to locate all four of his pitches for strikes. Skaggs threw a two-seamer, four-seamer, changeup and curveballs at least 20 times each, and his ability mix seamlessly between the four kept the vaunted Astros lineup on its toes. He has been up-and-down so far in this young season, but Skaggs owns a nifty 2.96 ERA through five starts.

Skaggs (2-1) allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts through 4.1 innings in a loss Wednesday to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs has pitched more than five innings just once this inning. This time, Skaggs collapsed in the third innings, as Rafael Devers's grand slam finished off a five-run frame. Skaggs was effective but inefficient in his first few starts, but the floodgates finally burst on him Wednesday night, and his ERA is up to 3.98 as a result.

Skaggs (2-0) allowed one earned run on five hits while striking out seven and walking four across five innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs kept his sparkling ERA intact in his third start of the season, but the performance raises red flags about his ability to pitch with efficiency consistently. For the second consecutive start, he topped 100 pitches but failed to pitch more than five innings. He continues to rack up strikeouts -- he has 17 over 16 innings to begin the season -- and clearly has the stuff to succeed, but his strand rate now sits well over 80 percent so if he wants to keep these results he'll need to do better at limiting baserunners in future starts.

Skaggs allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts over just 4.2 innings in a no-decision Wednesday against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs was nasty at times, and the five strikeouts kept the floodgates from bursting, but his inability to close at-bats early cost him, as he needed 103 pitches (67 strikes) to get just 14 outs. Considering his injury history, the Angels felt no need to further push him. Skaggs threw 6.1 shutout innings in his first start, so he's still sitting pretty with a 1.64 ERA.
