Skaggs (1-0) tossed a three-hitter against Oakland on Friday, striking out five and walking none in a 2-1 victory.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs got his 2018 off to a phenomenal start in the victory, yielding just three hits to the A's en route to the victory. With Skaggs the question isn't so much skill as it is durability. He's never thrown more than 113 innings in a season and has pitched just 134.2 over the past two years. Skaggs seems to be at full health to start this season, so the thought of what he could do if he stays on the field all year is an intriguing one. You just also probably shouldn't bank on it.

Skaggs will start the Angels' second game of the season Friday against the Athletics, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs will slot in directly behind Opening Day starter Garrett Richards, with Matt Shoemaker and Shohei Ohtani set to follow him in the rotation. The southpaw enters the campaign at full health, but his ability to hold up for a full season still remains in doubt. Skaggs has yet to exceed 18 starts or 113 innings in any of his five seasons in the big leagues.

Skaggs was charged with two runs on four hits over 3.2 innings Thursday. He struck out four in a spring loss to the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
It was a decent start from the southpaw, but the key takeaway from this start was Skaggs' attempt to improve his changeup to go along with his heater and hook. After the game the 26-year-old admitted that he "can be a two-pitch pitcher, but I can only go so far doing that," according to Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register. Skaggs threw his changeup a career-low 8.8 percent last season, but re-incorporating that pitch into his repertoire could keep hitters honest and help improve the inconsistent results we have seen from him when he has been healthy enough to pitch over his five-year career. Staying healthy and limiting the long ball (1.4 HR/9 last season) will be key for the lefty if fantasy owners are going to be able to tap into his solid strikeout rate as a starter (8.0 K/9 in 2017). He is currently projected to slot in the back end of the Angels' six-man rotation.

Skaggs is expected to start the 2018 season in the big-league rotation, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Angels opting to utilize a six-man rotation this season, the young left-hander seems to be a lock to be in the rotation at the end of spring training along with Shohei Ohtani (elbow, ankle), Garrett Richards, Andrew Heaney and Matt Shoemaker. Skaggs' injury history makes him a risky option, but his decent arsenal offers some upside as a late-round flier. Skaggs will look to stay healthy all year while improving upon the 4.55 ERA and 1.4 HR/9 he produced last season.

Skaggs agreed to a one-year, $1.875 million deal with the Angels on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was Skaggs' first offseason as an arbitration-eligible player, and while he still possesses mid-rotation upside, his inability to stay healthy cost him in the arbitration process. He has failed to reach 100 innings in a season since 2014. Skaggs has a plus fastball and plus curveball from the left side, and makes for a nice late-round gamble in deeper leagues.

Skaggs allowed three runs on six hits -- including two home runs -- over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Friday. He struck out seven and issued one walk.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty was hurt by the long ball in this one, but he can hold his head high heading into the offseason, having posted a 3.86 ERA and 25:6 K:BB over his final five starts (28 innings). Injuries have plagued Skaggs throughout his career -- he lost a significant portion of this season to an oblique strain -- and the most important thing for 2018 will be just staying healthy.

Skaggs didn't factor into the decision Sunday in Houston, allowing four earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out three over five innings. The Angels won 7-5.
EDGE Analysis
Thanks to another no-decision, Skaggs' record for the season sits at a dismal 2-6 through 15 starts. The 26-year-old's WHIP (1.38) and ERA (4.48) are right in line with his career marks of 1.34 and 4.53, though, so owners shouldn't be shocked by his performance this year. He'll toe the rubber one last time in 2017 on Friday against the visiting Mariners.

Skaggs (2-6) gave up two runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings Tuesday. He walked one and struck out one while taking the loss to the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
All things considered, this was a positive outing for the 26-year-old against the hottest team in baseball. Skaggs has posted a 2.45 ERA and 5.0 K/BB ratio over his last three starts since rediscovering his two-seam fastball. His next start against the Astros on Sunday represents another tough matchup, but the southpaw dominated them in their previous meeting on Sept. 13.

Skaggs (2-5) picked up the win after firing seven shutout innings Wednesday. He allowed three hits while walking one and striking out five in a 9-1 win over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Fantasy owners may have been hesitant to start the inconsistent southpaw against an Astros' lineup that was loaded with right-handed power, but Skaggs overcame the odds and came out victorious. He has now posted two consecutive quality starts with an impressive 14:2 K:BB ratio over 13 innings. Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reported that Skaggs' recent success has coincided with the reincorporation of his two-seam fastball, a pitch that he ditched last season. The proof was in the pudding for the 26-year-old, as he induced a season-high seven groundballs in Wednesday's dominant outing. Skaggs will look to keep things rolling in another tough matchup against the red-hot Indians next Tuesday.

Skaggs (1-5) landed in the loss column after allowing three runs on six hits and a walk Wednesday against the Athletics. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs tied his season high for strikeouts, but it still wasn't enough for the southpaw to earn his first win since April. Wednesday marked just his second quality start in seven outings since he returned from an oblique injury at the beginning of August; he owns a 5.61 ERA and 31:14 K:BB in 33.2 innings over that stretch. Skaggs' next start comes at home against the Astros.
