Pearce is not in the starting lineup Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports. Mired in an early-season slump, Pearce will yield another start to Jimmy Paredes. Friday will mark the fifth time in the last six games that Pearce is not in the starting lineup. Paredes is batting third and serving as the DH on Friday night.

Pearce is out of the lineup Thursday, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports. Pearce is slumping right now, with just four hits in his last 39 at-bats. He is certainly not an everyday player at this point for Baltimore, although that could change if he gets hot. Travis Snider will get the start at DH on Thursday.

Pearce is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Blue Jays, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports. Pearce will now be on the bench for the third time in four games. With no report of an injury, and with Pearce struggling at the plate as he's sporting a slash line of just .156/.240/.289, it appears as though the 32-year-old may be losing his grip on regular playing time. Jimmy Paredes will serve as the team's designated hitter, batting second.

Pearce is not in the lineup Monday for the second day in a row, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports. Jimmy Paredes will serve as the DH for the third day in a row and again relegate Pearce to bench duty. Pearce homered in each of his first two games of the season, but he has tallied just four total hits since, and is now starting to lose some playing time.

Pearce isn't in the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports. Pearce will be squeezed out of the lineup for the second time in four games. The 32-year-old made his presence felt earlier in the season with homers in his first two games, but since that time, he's gone a woeful 4-for-33 at the plate with no RBI. Should his struggles continue in his subsequent opportunities, Pearce could lose out on at-bats to the likes of Delmon Young and Jimmy Paredes.

Pearce is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. Pearce appears to be receiving a standard maintenance day following a 5-for-31 slump to begin the season. Travis Snider will serve as the designated hitter in his place Wednesday.

Pearce started the season Monday with a bang, hitting a solo home run in three at-bats with one walk and one strikeout. Pearce was slotted in as the cleanup hitter with Chris Davis serving the final game of his suspension. He figures to slide in at fifth in the order moving forward. Pearce hit 21 home runs in 102 games last year and figures to be a strong power source this season.

Pearce is in Wednesday's lineup and playing first base, according to MASN Sports, but he has not seen action at third base as had been expected earlier this spring. The option still appears to be on the table for Pearce, but it would probably be as an emergency replacement. Pearce played 10 games at third base with the Pirates in 2011, but has never taken that spot with the Orioles. He has picked up where he left off from his breakout 2014, hitting 13-for-34 with five home runs and nine RBIs and only one strikeout this spring.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Pearce may get some playing time at third base this spring, mlb.com's Brittany Ghiroli reports. Pearce wouldn't play third base until later this spring, and he'd probably just be doing so for a bit of added versatility. Manny Machado will likely gobble up nearly all of the plate appearances from third base, so long as he stays healthy. Still, it's worth keeping an eye on Pearce's positions this spring, as the addition of third base eligibility, while perhaps unlikely, would provide a nice boost to his value in most formats.

Pearce agreed to a one-year, $3.7 million contract with the Orioles on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports. Pearce will be compensated accordingly after his breakout 2014 campaign -- he will make close to five times as much as he did last season -- in his final year before free agency. After failing to earn more than 188 plate appearances in any of his first seven major league seasons, Pearce worked his way into 383 trips in 2014 and produced to the tune of a .293/.373/.556 batting line and 21 home runs. He's locked in as the team's primary DH option heading into spring training.
