Pearce is out of the lineup Saturday, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has been in the lineup just over 50 percent of the time lately -- a trend that should continue down the stretch. Jimmy Paredes will start at DH and Nolan Reimold will start in left field Saturday.

Pearce is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pearce had been in the lineup the previous four games, going 2-for-15 with a double and a walk. The 32-year-old's playing time will be dictated by how well he hits when called upon, so an everyday role can't be guaranteed at this point. Manager Buck Showalter will give Nolan Reimold a roll in left field while Pearce sits in Sunday's matinee.

Pearce is out of the lineup on Monday, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN.
EDGE Analysis
Since returning from the disabled list, Pearce is 5-for-22 with a pair of home runs, but makes way for Gerardo Parra in left field on Monday. His positional flexibility should keep him in the lineup most days, but is the odd man out on Monday.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Steve Pearce, who has not played since July 18 because of an oblique injury, will begin a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Orioles on Thursday, according to MASN. Pearce had his recovery scaled back after he felt discomfort while taking dry swings earlier this week, but manager Buck Showalter said that he anticipates a relatively short stay in the minor leagues. Pearce was hit in the back during batting practice Wednesday. "If he could get through a couple of days of [live pitching], that could come pretty quick," Showalter told the Baltimore Sun. "Let's see how he recovers from the HBP." Pearce had a breakout season in 2014, when he hit .297/.373/.556 with 21 homers in 102 games, but was relegated to a part-time role after struggling in April. He will likely resume his role off the bench after returning to the big club.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Steve Pearce, who has been out since July 22 with an oblique injury, could return before Sept. 1, according to the Baltimore Sun. Pearce recently began traveling with the team and could begin baseball activities by the end of next week. “It’s hard,” Pearce said in July. "Especially being here around the guys, seeing guys hitting, preparing and getting ready. It's just frustrating that I don’t get to be a part of it." Manager Buck Showalter said the team does not plan to send Pearce on a rehab assignment before he is activated from the disabled list. Pearce had a breakout season in 2014, batting .293 with a .929 OPS in 102 games, but he lost his starting job this season after struggling in April. He likely will reprise his role as outfield depth when he finally returns.

Pearce has logged just six starts and 27 at-bats since June 13 through Thursday. Pearce opened the season as a regular, logging time at first base and in the outfield before filling in some at second base. He is slashing .232/.398/.390 on the season, a far cry from his .293/.373/.556 slashes just a year ago. Pearce has lost virtually all his playing time to Jimmy Paredes and Chris Parmelee. Pearce needs to perform better in order to regain playing time, but there is little opportunity to prove himself at this point in time.

Pearce is out of the lineup Friday against the Indians, Eddie Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports. Pearce will sit for the first time in nearly a week as Ryan Flaherty is in the lineup at second base, while Chris Davis returns to his post at first base. Jimmy Paredes will serve as the DH against Cleveland starter Shaun Marcum.
