Pearce agreed to a one-year, $3.7 million contract with the Orioles on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports. Pearce will be compensated accordingly after his breakout 2014 campaign -- he will make close to five times as much as he did last season -- in his final year before free agency. After failing to earn more than 188 plate appearances in any of his first seven major league seasons, Pearce worked his way into 383 trips in 2014 and produced to the tune of a .293/.373/.556 batting line and 21 home runs. He's locked in as the team's primary DH option heading into spring training.
