Manager Buck Showalter said Tuesday at the Winter Meetings that if the season started today, Pearce would be in right field, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
Pearce busted out last season in a big way with 21 homers and a .929 OPS, and while he's a big swing-and-miss guy who's never really showed great contact before 2014, with Nick Markakis gone he may have a chance to take over a full-time role and run with it.

Pearce (wrist) is now targeting a return to the lineup Thursday, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.
There was some hope that Pearce, who has been out since last Friday due to wrist soreness, would be able to make it back for Wednesday's game. However, the plan is now for him to test the wrist in on-field batting practice Wednesday, with an eye toward returning to face Hiroki Kuroda in Thursday's series finale.

Pearce (wrist) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Yankees but hopes to return Wednesday.
Pearce sat out both of the team's games over the weekend while dealing with discomfort and soreness in his right wrist. He said he woke up Monday without any pain, so he'll likely test out the wrist Tuesday before potentially returning to the lineup for Wednesday afternoon's game. Nick Markakis, returning from a brief absence of his own, will get the start in right field Monday versus Michael Pineda.

Pearce (wrist) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Pearce believes he could play Sunday if needed, but with the Orioles locked into a playoff spot, they will hold him out again to give him more time to rest his wrist. Christian Walker will get another start at first base in Pearce's place.

Pearce was a late scratch from Saturday's game with a sore right wrist, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Pearce will likely be replaced in the lineup by Christian Walker at first base. The move is apparently precautionary, as the team has no reason to push players into action with the division already locked up. Pearce should be considered day-to-day with the injury.
