Greene is scheduled to start at Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday night, but he could be a candidate to start Sunday's game against the Twins, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports. Manager Brad Ausmus said he's still deciding between Greene and Buck Farmer, and Greene's availability will likely depend on how many innings he throws Wednesday night. The situation is something to keep an eye on in the coming days, and an update should be available following Greene's Triple-A start.

Greene, who was slowed by a blister at the end of June, tossed six innings and allowed just one earned run in his most recent start at Triple-A Toledo. His outings with Toledo have been a mixed bag -- two good starts, and two bad ones -- and the Tigers continue to use Kyle Ryan over him as the team's No. 5 starter for now. Greene may be knocking on the door for a return to the Detroit rotation soon after the All-Star break if he can get good results more consistently in his next few starts for the Mud Hens.

Greene's next start in Triple-A is in question because of the blister that forced him from Sunday's game, reports MLive.com. He threw 7.1 innings his first time out for Toledo, but was forced from Sunday's game in the fourth inning. Prior to his exit, he had given up seven hits and one walk, and had been tagged for four runs.

Greene left Sunday's game with Triple-A Norfolk due to a blister on his right middle finger, MLive Media Group reports. Optioned to Triple-A Toledo on June 12, Greene tossed 7.1 shutout innings in his first outing with the Mud Hens, but then gave up four runs in Sunday's start. Although the Tigers seemingly hope Greene can eventually return to the rotation, it's unlikely to happen before the All-Star break.

Greene was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday. He has a 5.82 ERA and a 44:19 K:BB ratio in 68 innings so this comes as no surprise. Those who were buying the sleeper hype on Greene in the preseason have probably already cut ties in most formats, but if not, now might be the time to do so. The move corresponds with Ian Krol joining the bullpen, as Greene's turn in the rotation won't come up again until Tuesday. At that time, Buck Farmer could serve as an option to be recalled to get the start.

Greene (4-6) gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk in just three innings Wednesday in a loss to the Cubs. The struggles continue for Greene, who's now allowed a brutal 20 runs on 29 hits over 14.2 innings spanning his last four outings. His hot start to the year is a distant memory now, and it's highly questionable how much longer the Tigers will be willing to roll with him in the rotation. His next start is scheduled for Tuesday against the Reds, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Tigers try to go in a different direction sooner rather than later.

Manager Brad Ausmus confirmed Greene would remain in the rotation for his scheduled start Wednesday against the Cubs, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports. After Greene was torched again for six runs (four earned) over 4.1 innings in Thursday's outing against the Athletics, there was some speculation that the right-hander might be bumped from his starting role in favor of Kyle Ryan. However, it looks like Ausmus will afford Greene one more opportunity to redeem himself, though he's surely nearing the end of his leash. It's probably worthwhile to keep Greene on the bench in most leagues this week given his less-than-impressive results of late.

Greene allowed six runs (four earned) against the Athletics on Thursday. He lasted just 4.1 innings, giving up eight hits and two walks while striking out two. Greene has now given up 15 earned runs in just 11.2 innings over his last three starts. While Greene has pitched better than his 5.40 ERA indicates (4.47 FIP), his fantasy value is limited due to his lack of strikeouts. He fanned just two batters on Thursday, lowering his K/9 to 5.68 on the season.

Greene (4-4) was mauled by the Angels on Saturday, giving up seven runs on six hits -- including a whopping five home runs -- and a walk in just 1.2 innings. It's awfully hard to get left in a game long enough to give up five home runs, but Tigers manager Brad Ausmus left Greene in after four solo shots, and he put a couple more men on base before surrendering a three-run jack to Albert Pujols, ending his day. While Greene has shown a lot of promise at times this year, he's also been blowup-prone, having given up five or more runs four times in his 11 starts. He gets a better matchup Friday against the struggling White Sox.

Greene gave up four runs on eight hits, walking none and striking out four over 5.2 innings, in a loss to the A's on Monday. The right-hander didn't give up a run in the first five innings, but the wheels came off in the sixth. Oakland got to Greene for four runs on five hits in the frame, though three of those hits were singles, two of the infield variety. Further, Greene's elbow hasn't seemed to present issues in his last two starts, and he'll get an Angels team this weekend that has had some major issues against right-handed pitching.
