Greene is the current frontrunner for the Tigers' fifth starter job with spring training just over two weeks away.
Unless the Tigers make a push for James Shields in free agency, Greene should be safe as a member of the rotation to begin the season. Getting out of Yankee Stadium and into a more spacious home park in Detroit should help his chances of becoming a viable option every fifth day after he faded down the stretch last season.

Greene was traded to the Tigers on Friday as part of a deal that sent Didi Gregorius to the Yankees and Robbie Ray to the Diamondbacks, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
Greene was never heralded as a big-time prospect for the Yankees, but he reached the majors for the first time last July and more than held his own, posting a respectable 3.78 ERA and striking out over a batter per inning in 15 games, including 14 starts. With Ray on his way out of Detroit, consider Greene the front-runner for fifth spot in the Tigers' rotation as things stand.

Greene hit the showers early in Wednesday's loss to Baltimore, lasting just 3.2 innings while surrendering six runs on seven hits and three walks.
The ugly start brought Greene's ERA up over half-a-run to 3.78 on the season. The 25-year-old finishes with a 5-4 record and 81 strikeouts in 78.2 innings.

Greene pitched well in Thursday's start against Toronto, but recorded a no-decision. He tossed 6.2 scoreless innings, scattering three hits, while striking out six.
Greene was in complete control, giving up just three singles, and was in line for the win until Shawn Kelley blew a two-run lead in the eighth inning. He throws pretty hard, with an average fastball velocity of 93.1 mph, and the strikeouts have translated, as he's fanned 76 batters in 75 innings for the big club. Because Masahiro Tanaka will be reinserted into the starting rotation Sunday, Greene will make just one start next week against Baltimore.

Greene gave up five hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings in Sunday's loss to the Royals.
It wasn't the sharpest of outings for Greene, who needed 90 pitches to get through the five innings. He struck out four and walked three. Another tough test for Greene awaits Saturday in Baltimore.

The rookie has now given up six roundtrippers over his last seven appearances, posting a 14:40 BB:K during that span. Greene is now 4-2 on the year with a 3.88 ERA and 1.36 WHIP and is slated to take on the Royals in his next start Sunday.

Greene struck out eight and walked one while holding the Tigers to two runs on five hits over seven innings en route to his fourth of the season.
Considering that David Price was on the hill for Detroit, it was an improbable victory for the rookie right-hander, who continues to be a pleasant surprise for the Yankees this season. He'll make a pair of home starts next week, first against the Red Sox on Tuesday before facing the Royals on September 7.

Greene allowed three runs on nine hits, walking two and striking out seven over five innings but was left with a no-decision in the Yankees 4-3 win over the White Sox on Friday night.
A pretty pedestrian performance for Greene who has been a revelation to the Yankees rotation. The damage all came in the first inning on a three-run home run off the bat of Jose Abreu, but he had to work his way out of trouble for much of the night. Despite the shaky performance he will carry a very respectable 3.17 ERA into his next start against the Tigers in Detroit.

Greene will take the hill Saturday at Tampa Bay, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
Greene's start Tuesday in Baltimore was postponed due to torrential downpours, and with the schedule now official, he'll have more than a week of rest under his belt since his last appearance (Thursday's eight scoreless innings against the Tigers).

Greene won't start Wednesday, but the Yankees and Orioles have yet to settle on a makeup date for Tuesday's postponement, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.
On Wednesday, the Yankees will stick with their initial plan of sending out Michael Pineda (back), who will be making his first start since Apr. 23. Both organizations have an off-day on the ledger Thursday, which could accommodate Greene's next nod. However, if they opt for a later date, the rookie may be skipped entirely and used in relief during the current turn of the rotation.
