Greene settled in after a rocky first inning to allow just two runs and three hits over six frames to beat the Pirates on Wednesday. He also struck out seven and walked three.
EDGE Analysis
Four of the six base runners Greene allowed came in the first inning. Over the next four frames, the right-hander didn't allow a hit and walked just one batter, who was erased by a double play. Greene has experienced great success at PNC Park; he owes a 1.29 ERA in two career outings in the Steel City.

Greene's first start of the season will come Monday against the Pirates, George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greene was initially slated to go Sunday against his former team, the Yankees, but it appears manager Brad Ausmus will take advantage of a scheduled off day to re-work his rotation. No announcement has been made yet, but Justin Verlander figures to take the Sunday start on regular rest in his stead.

Greene appears to have become the No. 5 starter now that Matt Boyd has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo, MLive reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greene was thought to have garnered the position with Boyd scuffling toward the end of spring training, but Boyd's demotion all but assures it. This is definitely a boon to his value, although he may head to the bullpen or Triple-A once Daniel Norris (back) is ready to rejoin the rotation.

Green is likely to begin the season as Detroit's No. 5 starter with Daniel Norris injured and Matt Boyd struggling, the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Green has a 2.63 ERA this spring with an impressive 14:3 K:BB ratio in 13.2 innings. Green has hit 97 mph on the radar gun this spring, so he has some upside for strikeouts despite a paltry 5.4 K/9 last season. He'll need a quick start as the fifth starter or will likely move to the bullpen when Norris returns sometime in late April.

Greene (hand) is at full strength this spring and has arrived in camp ready to compete for both a starting spot and a bullpen role, reports the Detroit Free Press. "I talked to him about it during the winter, just come in to be prepared to start but know that you could end up a bullpen piece or you could end up being a starter," said manager Brad Ausmus.
EDGE Analysis
Greene is actually being considered for both positions for both Detroit and at Triple-A Toledo. The Tigers may keep him stretched out as a starter down in Triple-A, rather than shorten him prematurely and lock him into a bullpen role with the big club. Greene's fantasy value will be dictated by this decision, so leave him on the wire until you have a sense of his role.

Greene (hand) will undergo surgery Thursday and will miss the rest of the 2015 season, Matthew Mowery of the Oakland Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greene is dealing with an arterial issue in his shoulder, and he'll undergo a procedure which will eliminate any chance of a September call-up. The right-hander started 16 games for Detroit earlier in the season and posted a 6.88 ERA across 18 total appearances.

Detroit Tigers pitcher Shane Green has been diagnosed with an arterial issue in his shoulder that is causing a pseudo-aneurysm in his hand, according to MLive Media Group. Greene will see a specialist Tuesday, but the fear is that he will need to undergo surgery to correct the issue, which would likely hold him out for the rest of the season. He made 16 starts earlier this year, going 4-8 with a 6.88 ERA in 83.2 innings before being demoted, and the new ailment will likely keep him from getting called up when rosters expand in September. "This is up in the shoulder, which is affecting his blood flow into his middle finger," Tigers head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said. "It's something that's evidently been in there. Initially, we thought it had to do with a major blister that he had on that same finger, but obviously a little deeper than that."

Greene allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks in just 4.2 innings Sunday in a loss to the Twins. He has allowed at least four runs in his last five major league starts. He'd been sent to Triple-A last month after losing four straight and it seems like he picked up right where he left off. He just isn't keeping the ball down in the zone and that's burning him and the Tigers. Expect him to return to the minors to work out the kinks. And if he doesn't, then you need to avoid him.

Greene has been confirmed as the starter for Sunday's game against the Twins, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports. As expected, Greene will be recalled from Triple-A to make the start Sunday. He was limited to just three innings in his start Wednesday, likely as a precaution to protect his arm in advance of the weekend.

Greene had Wednesday's start limited to just three innings of work, leaving him as the likely candidate to make the start Sunday for the Tigers, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports. The Tigers have an open slot in the rotation after optioning Kyle Ryan to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. Green was held to just 38 pitches across three innings in his minor league start Wednesday. The move has not been made official to this point, so it will be a situation worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's potential start.
