Goldschmidt traveled back to Arizona on Tuesday night to await the birth of his child and will remain away until Saturday, Jody Jackson of FOX Sports Arizona reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks are off Thursday and thus will be without Goldschmidt for only two games. He's expected to rejoin the team in Chicago for Saturday's game against Jake Arrieta and the Cubs. Goldschmidt had a bit of a down month (by his standards) in August, but he still has an even 1.000 OPS for the season, with 27 homers and 21 stolen bases in 132 games.

EDGE Analysis
For the second night in a row, Goldschmidt provided most of the D-backs' offense, hitting a long home run in the first inning to give the club an early lead. Goldschmidt is catching fire again with three home runs this week after going nearly a month between long balls. Look for him to finish the season strong.

EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt was one of the few bright spots offensively for Arizona as they got blown out by St. Louis. While his pace has slowed a bit lately (batting just .269 over his last 52 at-bats), he still ranks second in baseball with a .330 average and 93 RBI while ranking in the top 10 in a number of other categories.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, a run, and two stolen bases Monday in a win over the Dodgers.
Goldschmidt is up to 15 steals in 19 attempts, good for a 79 percent success rate. He will have a shot at a 30/30 season if he can keep up his success on the base paths in the second half, which hasn't happened since 2012.
