Angels manager Mike Scioscia indicated Tuesday that Mike Trout is likely to begin the season in the minors unless there's an injury. Vernon Wells is still owed $63 million over the next three seasons, so he figures to be the starting left fielder by default. Meanwhile, Peter Bourjos and Torii Hunter are projected to play center and right, respectively. With Bobby Abreu and potentially Kendrys Morales (ankle) and Mark Trumbo (foot) also looking for at-bats, it only makes sense for Trout to continue his development in the minors. "You never know where you are at the end of spring training - somebody could be banged up, and an opportunity presents itself," said Scioscia. "Mike is certainly on the depth chart.. We're excited about his potential. He's advanced for his age, but he's not the finished product." We wouldn't rule out Trout making a major impact at some point this season, but fantasy owners will have to be patient.

Mike Trout went 2-for-4 in Los Angeles' season finale Wednesday, a loss to the Rangers. Both hits were singles. The second best prospect in baseball will finish his first major league cup of coffee with a .220/.281/.390 triple slash in 135 plate appearances. Hardly sparkling, but still impressive for a player who was 19 when he made his big-league debut on July 8. It would be an upset if Trout was not a part of the Angels' Opening Day lineup next season.

Manager Mike Scioscia hinted that outfielder Mike Trout could begin the 2012 season in Triple-A. Unless Vernon Wells opts out of his contract, which is highly unlikely, the Angels' outfield will be full again next season. So the Angels may save themselves some money in the long run and let Trout marinate a bit more in the minor leagues. The 20-year-old has a weak .204 batting average in 113 at-bats this season, but he's flashed some power and boasts immense long-term potential.

Mike Trout went hitless in four at-bats on Tuesday against the Blue Jays. After looking good in limited action last month, the rookie is only 6-for-42 (.143) in September. But keep in mind he only recently turned 20. There will be more short-term hiccups for Trout in a career that is expected to soar.

Mike Trout (leg) is back in Tuesday's lineup against the Blue Jays. Trout was held out of the starting lineup Monday due to a lingering soreness after fouling a ball off his leg during Saturday's game. He'll start in right field Tuesday while Torii Hunter serves as the designated hitter.

Mike Trout (leg) is not in Monday's lineup against the Blue Jays. Trout is still sore after fouling a ball off his left leg in the ninth inning of Saturday's game against the Orioles. Consider the rookie outfielder day-to-day for now.

Mike Trout is starting in left field Wednesday for the second straight night. Not surprising, given his two-homer, five-RBI effort Tuesday. Angels manager Mike Scioscia noted that when Trout was recalled that he would receive a good amount of playing time, to the detriment mostly of Vernon Wells and Bobby Abreu. After Abreu sat out Tuesday, Wells is riding the pine Wednesday.

Rookie phenom Mike Trout hit two home runs and collected five RBI in Tuesday's victory over the Mariners. Both homers came off hapless Seattle starter Anthony Vasquez, the first a solo shot in the second inning and the second a three-run bomb in the fourth. Trout also walked and scored three runs. It was just Trout's fifth start in 10 games since being called back up on August 19, which is highly curious because he entered play on Tuesday hitting .389/.450/.778 in that time span. If Anaheim decides to start playing him more, he needs to be active in mixed leagues.

Mike Trout is in the Angels' starting lineup on Tuesday. The start will be just Trout's fifth in 10 games since being called back up on August 19. He's hitting .389/.450/.778 in that timespan, however, and could force his way into the Angels lineup if he continues to show a live bat. He's worth monitoring, even in mixed redraft leagues.

In his first game back with the Angels, Mike Trout hit his second big-league homer Friday off the Orioles' Kevin Gregg. It was his lone hit in four at-bats tonight, and it didn't count for much in a game the Angels were already winning 7-3. Still, a homer is a homer. It'll help Trout's case for additional at-bats.
