Angels manager Mike Scioscia indicated Tuesday that Mike Trout is likely to begin the season in the minors unless there's an injury.
Vernon Wells is still owed $63 million over the next three seasons, so he figures to be the starting left fielder by default. Meanwhile, Peter Bourjos and Torii Hunter are projected to play center and right, respectively. With Bobby Abreu and potentially Kendrys Morales (ankle) and Mark Trumbo (foot) also looking for at-bats, it only makes sense for Trout to continue his development in the minors. "You never know where you are at the end of spring training - somebody could be banged up, and an opportunity presents itself," said Scioscia. "Mike is certainly on the depth chart.. We're excited about his potential. He's advanced for his age, but he's not the finished product." We wouldn't rule out Trout making a major impact at some point this season, but fantasy owners will have to be patient.
