Mike Carp (shoulder) is expected to be placed on the disabled list Wednesday.
Carp didn't play Tuesday night, as his right shoulder has been bothering him over the past few games. It's the same injury that forced him to miss 23 games earlier this season and it looks like he's headed for another extended absence.

Mike Carp is not in Tuesday's lineup due to a right shoulder injury.
It's presumably the same ailment he deal with last month. "His shoulder is bothering him a little, so we're taking a good look at that right now," Mariners manager Eric Wedge said. Consider Carp day-to-day.

Mike Carp was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with a stiff right shoulder.
The move is considered precautionary, and Carp should be available off the bench. Chone Figgins took his spot in left field.

Mike Carp blasted his second homer of the season on Saturday, but it was all the offense that the Mariners could muster in a loss to the Yankees.
Carp finished the day 2-for-4 with a solo blast off Phil Hughes in the seventh inning and an RBI single in the ninth. He's struggled since returning from the disabled list, hitting just .167 (5-for-30) with two homers and seven RBI through 11 games. But perhaps he's ready to start roaring.

Mike Carp hit his first home run of the season in Sunday's win over the Twins.
Carp spent the entire month of April on the disabled list due to a shoulder injury he sustained during the season-opening series in Japan. But he's starting to see regular at-bats in the outfield and as the designated hitter and now has three RBI in his last four games. Remmeber that Carp posted 12 homers and 46 RBI in just 290 at-bats for the Mariners last season.

Mariners activated OF Mike Carp from the 15-day disabled list.
Carp injured his shoulder while tying to make a catch during the Mariners' season-opening series against the A's in Japan and missed all of April. But he's back now and should see regular playing time going forward -- whether in the outfield or at DH. Miguel Olvio (groin) was placed on the 15-day disabled list in a corresponding move.

Mike Carp (shoulder) is expected to take the place of the injured Miguel Olivo (groin) on the active roster.
That was the assumption after Olivo left Monday's game and Carp confirmed via his Twitter account Tuesday morning that he will be joining up with the big club. The 25-year-old has struggled during his rehab stint with Triple-A Tacoma, batting just .137 (7-for-51) with zero homers and a 14/2 K/BB ratio, but he'll likely slide into the DH spot while Jesus Montero and John Jaso share playing time behind the plate.

Mike Carp (shoulder) was scheduled to start in the outfield Friday for the first time on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma.
Carp was originally scheduled to play the outfield for the first time Thursday, but he served as the DH after sleeping on his arm wrong. The 25-year-old is 4-for-27 (.148) over the first seven games of his rehab assignment.

Updating a previous item, Mike Carp will serve as the designated hitter in his rehab game Thursday with Triple-A Tacoma.
Carp was originally expected to start in left field, but he's apparently not ready to play the field yet. The Mariners won't activate him from the DL until he is able to play a handful of games in the outfield without discomfort in his shoulder.
