Following the loss to Kansas City, Boyd's ERA moved to 6.44 over 29.1 innings on the season for Detroit. The 25-year-old has fared much better in Triple-A, however, compiling a 2.06 ERA over 48 innings of work.

Boyd (0-2) was lit up by the Royals for seven runs on eight hits in 3.2 innings. He didn't issue a free pass, and he struck out one in the loss.

Despite his success in the minors, the left-handed 25-year-old continues to fall short at the major league level. Through six starts this season, Boyd sports an unimpressive 6.44 ERA and 22:11 K:BB. Saturday, he was replaced in the fourth inning by former-starter Anibal Sanchez, who allowed just one run in 2.1 innings. Boyd's job security is flimsy, but for now he's scheduled to make his next start Thursday against the Mariners.

Boyd allowed six runs in 4.1 innings in a no-decision Monday against the White Sox. Chicago collected seven hits and two walks while striking out three times.

The five walks were a bit of a surprise considering he only had allowed a total of four free passes through his first three starts (16 innings). Boyd's high strand rate (78.3 percent) suggests that his 3.38 ERA is skating on thin ice. He's scheduled to toe the rubber again Monday on the road against the White Sox.

The 25-year-old lefty threw his longest outing of the season, but he also conceded a season-high mark in runs. The Tigers haven't announced if Boyd will remain in the rotation, and the spot for Tuesday against the Blue Jays currently lists a TBD.

Boyd made his first start of the season Saturday against Oakland, earning a no decision while striking out seven.
