Boyd (3-2) allowed three runs on six hits, struck out five and walked three over five innings in a victory over the Mets on Saturday.

The lefty tossed up two bombs for the second straight outing, but they were of the solo variety, and the Tigers offense spotted Boyd six runs. The 25-year-old was also uncharacteristically wild, walking three batters for the first time in nearly two months, but none of them came around to score. Boyd is now 3-2 with a 4.77 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 54.2 innings.

Boyd will remain in the Tigers' rotation for now, ESPN's Katie Strang reports.

EDGE Analysis

With Mike Pelfrey (back) landing on the 15-day DL on Tuesday, Boyd will take the ball on Saturday against the Mets after beating out Daniel Norris for the last spot in the rotation with some solid recent starts. Boyd's 4.71 ERA doesn't tell the whole story, as he has a 2.35 ERA in the second half and a 1.27 WHIP on the season, so he is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Boyd is 2-0 with a 2.21 ERA, 23 strikeouts and just four walks in 20.1 innings of work in July.

EDGE Analysis

Boyd has been a much better pitcher since his early July return from Triple-A. His control is sharp and he's commanding his fastball well. His overall ERA remains high at 4.71, but baseball is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league. Boyd could be a sneaky fantasy play going forward based on his most recent work.

Boyd (2-2) pitched five innings, allowing three runs, four hits and a walk while striking out six Astros in Friday's win.

Boyd was able to cruise to his second victory of the season thanks to a nine run explosion by the Tigers offense in the first two innings Friday. He threw 100 pitches for just the third time this year while allowing multiple home runs for the third time, too. The southpaw has won two straight decisions and will go for number three Thursday at home against the White Sox.

Boyd (1-2) had easily his best start of the season on Monday, shutting out the Twins over six innings. He allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out seven in the win.

EDGE Analysis

Boyd's seven strikeouts matched a season high. The 25-year-old has allowed just one run in 11 innings of work this month, striking out 13 compared to three walks. Boyd will try to keep the strong play going when he takes the mound against the White Sox this Saturday.

He'll make his next start after the All-Star break.

Boyd will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to start Saturday's game at Toronto.

EDGE Analysis

Boyd will get to face his former team Saturday after posting a 2.25 ERA in 11 starts this season with Toledo. However, he has a 6.44 ERA and 4.99 xFIP in 29.1 innings in the big leagues this year, and Saturday's matchup is not ideal, so it would be best to stay away for now in most formats.

EDGE Analysis

Following the loss to Kansas City, Boyd's ERA moved to 6.44 over 29.1 innings on the season for Detroit. The 25-year-old has fared much better in Triple-A, however, compiling a 2.06 ERA over 48 innings of work.

Boyd (0-2) was lit up by the Royals for seven runs on eight hits in 3.2 innings. He didn't issue a free pass, and he struck out one in the loss.

EDGE Analysis

Despite his success in the minors, the left-handed 25-year-old continues to fall short at the major league level. Through six starts this season, Boyd sports an unimpressive 6.44 ERA and 22:11 K:BB. Saturday, he was replaced in the fourth inning by former-starter Anibal Sanchez, who allowed just one run in 2.1 innings. Boyd's job security is flimsy, but for now he's scheduled to make his next start Thursday against the Mariners.

Boyd allowed six runs in 4.1 innings in a no-decision Monday against the White Sox. Chicago collected seven hits and two walks while striking out three times.

EDGE Analysis

The six runs allowed were more than he had allowed in his two previous starts combined. For the month he has struck out 11 batters compared to eight walks. Boyd will carry a 4.91 ERA into his start Saturday against the Royals.
