Boyd (7-3) tallied the win Wednesday against the Cardinals, giving up no runs on three hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw efficiently tossed 58 of his 79 pitches for strikes, and he delivered his 11th quality start of the season. The Cubs plated at least one run in each of the first five innings, so Boyd was able to aggressively attack the strike zone and cruise through St. Louis' lineup. Boyd boasts a 2.65 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 82:21 K:BB over 91.2 frames ahead of his next scheduled outing versus the Guardians, who have a dreadful .603 OPS against left-handed pitching since May 25.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday that Boyd (shoulder) is "all good" for his next scheduled start Wednesday in St. Louis, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had to be removed from his last outing against the Mariners with a bruised left shoulder after being struck by a comebacker. However, he got through his normal between-starts bullpen session without any hiccups and is all systems go for this week's outing against the Cardinals.

Manager Craig Counsell said that Boyd left Friday's game against the Mariners due to a bruise on his left shoulder, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd made a great catch on a 105-mph comebacker during the fifth inning of Friday's contest, but it seems he didn't quite come away from it unscathed. The 34-year-old southpaw said after the game that he's not too concerned about his shoulder at this point, so he should still be able to make his next scheduled start in St. Louis next week.

Boyd did not factor into the decision in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Mariners, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd generated nine swinging strikes and was given a surprisingly early hook at just 76 pitches after making a miraculous catch on a comebacker to record his final out. The outing snapped a streak of four straight quality starts for the southpaw, but he's now gone at least five innings while allowing three earned runs or fewer in 14 of 15 outings this season. He'll take a 2.84 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 79:21 K:BB across 85.2 innings into a road matchup with the Cardinals next week.

Boyd (6-3) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over six innings in a 2-1 victory over the Pirates. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw fired 63 of 93 pitches for strikes in his fourth straight quality start and 10th of the year, but Boyd looked like he might have to settle for a no-decision until Dansby Swanson broke a 1-1 tie by going yard in the sixth inning. Boyd will take a 2.79 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 73:19 K:BB through 80.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Mariners.

Boyd didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Phillies after giving up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and two walks in six innings. He didn't record a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
While it was the first time all season that Boyd fanned fewer than three, that didn't stop him from producing his third quality start in a row and ninth overall in 2025. The veteran left-hander had tallied at least six strikeouts in six of his prior seven outings before Monday, so fantasy managers should expect him to rebound in this area going forward. Boyd has worked to a strong 2.89 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 70:18 K:BB across 74.2 innings ahead of soft matchup slated for this weekend versus the Pirates, who are batting a mere .199 against left-handers since May 1.

Boyd (5-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over 7.1 innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd was excellent Wednesday, holding the Nationals scoreless through six innings and without a hit for five. However, Amed Rosario led off the seventh with an opposite-field home run, which would prove to be enough to stick Boyd with the loss, his first since April 16, in a 2-0 defeat. The left-hander has turned in quality starts in five of his last six outings. Boyd's ERA sits at 3.01 with a 1.19 WHIP and 70:16 K:BB across 12 starts (68.2 innings). He'll look to get back into the win column in his next start, currently scheduled for next week in Philadelphia.

Boyd (5-2) earned the win over Colorado on Wednesday, allowing an unearned run on four hits and no walks while striking out eight batters over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd recorded his shortest -- and arguably worst -- outing of the season in his previous trip to the mound, giving up four runs over four innings against Cincinnati last Friday. The southpaw bounced back with perhaps his finest start of the campaign Wednesday, as he limited the Rockies to an unearned run while racking up 13 whiffs and tying a season high with eight punchouts. Boyd also tied a season high by completing exactly six innings, which he's done in seven of his 11 starts this season. The 34-year-old hurler is already more than halfway to his career-best win total (nine) with five victories on the campaign, and he's gotten there with a strong overall line that includes a 3.08 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 64:15 K:BB through 61.1. frames.

Boyd didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 13-6 win over the Reds, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three batters across four innings.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd put his team in an early hole by allowing the Reds to drive in three runs during the first inning. After throwing 93 pitches in four frames, he left the game with the Cubs trailing 4-2 but was saved from a loss by Chicago's 11-run outburst across the final three innings. The 34-year-old southpaw will carry a 3.42 ERA and 1.32 WHIP into his next meeting at home against an unimpressive Rockies squad.

Boyd (4-2) picked up the win Saturday, giving up three runs on four hits over six innings in a 7-3 victory over the White Sox. He struck out eight without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw did serve up solo shots to Chase Meidroth in the first inning and Tim Elko in the fifth, but otherwise Boyd was firmly in control as he delivered his third straight quality start and sixth of the year. The eight Ks tied his season high, and Boyd will take a 2.98 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 53:13 K:BB through 51.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Cincinnati.
