Boyd allowed five hits, two walks and four earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched, picking up only three strikeouts in Sunday's spring training loss to the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd looked fairly solid in his previous two starts, only allowing one earned run in five innings, but Sunday's performance seems more in line with his performance last year. Boyd had a 7.53 ERA in 13 games last season while bouncing between Triple-A and the majors for both the Tigers and Blue Jays.

Boyd was roughed up Wednesday by a strong Texas lineup. He allowed seven hits, including three home runs, and gave up six runs in just 2.2 innings of work.
EDGE Analysis
This was the 16th time this season the young hurler has failed to make it to the fourth inning -- that's tied for most in all of major league baseball. Gulp. He's a fly-ball guy and he serves up a lot of taters, especially when his fastball starts to flatten out and he leaves his change-up high in the zone. Maybe he just got hit hard, but there's also a school of thought that his upside as a number three starter might be hard to attain.

Boyd allowed four runs (two earned) on one hit, walking four and striking out four over six innings, but came away with a no-decision against the Twins on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
He flashes glimpses of ability, but he struggles to find the plate at times and his ERA, while improving, still sits at an ugly 6.91 on the year. This is an audition for 2016, and there have been some positive signs, but the youngster is going to need to show more consistent command.

Boyd took a no-decision on Saturday, giving up two earned runs, three hits and a walk in six innings against the Royals. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd has been getting progressively better with each September start, with his earned runs surrendered decreasing in each appearance while his innings, pitch count, and strikeouts have all been on the rise. The rookie southpaw has endured the typical up-and-down season of a young pitcher, and figures to get two additional opportunities to showcase his wares before the conclusion of the 2015 campaign.

Boyd will have his scheduled start Wednesday against the Twins skipped, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Tigers set to welcome Anibal Sanchez (shoulder) and Daniel Norris (oblique) back from the disabled list this week, it's quite likely that Boyd will be bumped from the rotation entirely. He's provided little reason for manager Brad Ausmus to continue handing him the ball every fifth day, as he's posted a 8.02 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over 42.2 innings (nine starts) this season.

Boyd will not start as scheduled Sunday, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd was in line to start the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Indians, but Cleveland and Detroit were postponed Saturday for the second day in a row, so Justin Verlander will move back a day and replace Boyd in the rotation. It remains to be seen if Boyd will be pushed back a day or if his spot will be skipped.

Boyd's scheduled start Saturday will be pushed back to Sunday as part of a doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd will start the first contest of the doubleheader, while Randy Wolf will toe the rubber in Game 2. He hasn't been overly impressive with either of his two clubs this season, but he will look for a good September audition heading into 2016 spring training.

Boyd (1-5) went five innings Tuesday, giving up three earned runs on three hits while walking two and striking out five in an 8-7 victory over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Tuesday's no-decision was a step in the right direction for Boyd, who had surrendered at least five earned runs in each of his previous two outings. It's been a struggle for Boyd since his trade from the Blue Jays, having exceeded six innings just once in his seven starts as a member of the Tigers. Boyd has put up good enough Triple-A numbers to warrant tracking his progress, but currently has very little value in most formats.

Boyd got an early hook Thursday against Kansas City after being roughed up for seven hits, two walks and six runs while failing to record an out in the second inning.
EDGE Analysis
Fortunately, he was able to avoid the loss, with Edinson Volquez getting bombed on the other end, but this is yet another implosion by Boyd, whose horror-show 8.36 ERA and 1.83 WHIP make him fantasy poison right now. He's got long-term upside, but it's hard to imagine a situation where he's startable this season.

Boyd was touched up for five runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out four over six innings of a 5-3 loss to Toronto on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd (1-5, 7.12 ERA) found that facing his former teammates was not the key to a lower ERA as the heavy-hitting Jays got to him for three long ones. The southpaw came over to Detroit in the David Price deal, and the Tigers have given him a rotation spot as they evaluate for next season. So far, lack of consistent command has haunted him, and his fantasy value is minimal right now.
