Holliday has been diagnosed with a partial quadriceps tear and will be reevaluated in two weeks, the St. Louis Post Dispatch's Derrick Goold reports.
Teammate Matt Adams suffered a complete tear earlier this season, which required surgery, but Holliday's Grade 2 tear means he may be able to avoid surgery. He was already going to miss two weeks after being placed on the 15-day DL, but it now sounds like the recovery process will exceed the minimum stay on the DL.

Holliday (quad) has been placed on the 15-day DL.
Holliday departed Monday's game and was later diagnosed with a right quad strain. The team has not provided a firm timetable, but Holliday will miss at least a couple of weeks, meaning Jon Jay is likely to see a bump in playing time. To fill Holliday's roster spot, the Cardinals called up right-handed pitcher Miguel Socolovich from Triple-A Memphis.

Holliday's injury has been clarified as a right quad strain, MLB.com's Tracy Ringolsby reports.
He left Monday's game after suffering the injury and will reportedly be examined further Tuesday. Jon Jay replaced Holliday in left field and will likely see a short-term boost in playing time if the injury persists.

Holliday left Monday's game against the Rockies after suffering an apparent leg injury.
He was able to walk off the field under his own strength after apparently jamming his knee, so it initially appears that Holliday avoided serious injury. We'll await a postgame update, but consider him day-to-day at this point. Jon Jay replaced him in left field.

Holliday was ejected by home plate umpire Joe West for arguing a called third strike in the seventh inning Tuesday, ending his National League-record 45-game on-base streak.
Holliday was just eight games away from tying Derek Jeter's all-time mark of 53, so he was understandably upset by the blown call by West. He finished 0-for-3 with the lone strikeout and will look to put the ejection and the impressive on-base streak behind him in his next outing.

Holliday (illness) went 1-for-3 with a walk in Monday's loss to the Brewers.
He was scratched from the lineup Sunday due to illness, but Holliday was able to play all nine innings in the loss Monday and is seemingly fit for regular duty throughout the upcoming week as a result.

Holliday (illness) will rejoin the lineup Monday against the Brewers.
Holliday missed Friday's game due to a fever, started Saturday but was removed early, and missed Sunday's game to essentially miss most of the weekend series against the Dodgers. He'll attempt to rejoin the lineup Monday, hoping that this time the illness is permanently behind him.

Holliday (illness) was scratched from Sunday's lineup for the Cardinals' game against the Dodgers, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch reports.
Holliday was pulled after just two plate appearances Saturday due to the illness, and though the Cardinals initially expected him to return to the outfield Sunday, manager Mike Matheny decided the 35-year-old could benefit from an extra day off. Peter Bourjos will swap in for Holliday, covering center field while Randal Grichuk moves over to left.

Holliday left Saturday's game, presumably because of the illness that held him out of Friday's game.
Jayson Heyward came into the game to play right field, while Randal Grichuk moved from right field to take Holliday's position in left field. Holliday reached base in the game though, the extend his on base streak to 44 games. Holliday will likely return to the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.

Holliday (illness) is back in the lineup Saturday.
After getting Friday off due to an illness Holliday will return to manning left field and hitting third in the Cardinals' lineup. He has not hit for much power so far this season but as long as he continues to hit well above .300 (.320) his owners should be satisfied.
