Williamson (quadriceps) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williamson is dealing with a quadriceps injury and is expected to miss the first couple weeks of the regular season. His DL stint is retroactive to March 30, so the outfielder is eligible to return April 9 at the earliest. It remains to be seen if he will return to the major-league club following his injury, as Jarrett Parker looks to have filled the reserve outfield role.

Williamson (quadriceps) will be out for multiple weeks, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
No exact timetable was established, but it appears that Williamson is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day. The injury certainly damages his chances of winning the starting left field spot on the major league roster. Jarrett Parker will likely serve as the team's primary backup outfielder to begin the season.

Williamson (quadriceps) was held out of action this weekend after his quad tightened up, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury isn't considered serious, and the slugging outfielder was able to participate in batting practice Sunday. The timing of the injury is concerning for Williamson, as any loss in playing time sets him back in the competition for the Giants' starting left field job. Jarrett Parker (.316, four homers and 12 RBI) is still the favorite to win the job out of camp, which could land Williamson in the minors to start the season.

Williamson went 1-for-4 with his second Cactus League home run in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Williamson is beginning to heat up, smacking homers in back-to-back starts. He has now tied his main competition for the Giants' left field job, Jarrett Parker, in spring training home runs. Williamson is still considered a slight underdog because he does have a minor league option available, but if he starts outhitting Parker this spring, then it would be hard to deny him the opportunity to start in left field to open the year.

Williamson hit his first Cactus League home run Sunday. The solo shot was his only hit in three plate appearances against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Williamson is currently competing with Jarrett Parker for the starting left field job on Opening Day. Both power threats have alternated starts during Cactus League action, and neither has shown to be superior to the other so far. Parker has the early edge in homers (two to one) and Williamson has the better batting average (.294 to .250). The latter will have to stand out to earn the job because he still has a minor league option, whereas Parker does not. Whoever wins the starting job will end up having a shot at 20-plus homers over the course of a whole season, but both could end up being drags on batting average.

Williamson will compete with Jarrett Parker this spring for the starting left field job, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williamson spent most of his time with the big club last year as a reserve outfielder, batting .223 with a high strikeout rate (27.6 K%) and above-average power (.188 isolated power). Both he and Parker profile similarly as free-swinging power hitters, their main difference being the side of the plate they bat from. There is one off-the-field difference that could play a role in who wins the Opening Day job, and that is both players' minor league options. Parker is out of options and Williamson still has some one remaining. That would only come into play if both outfielders perform similarly this spring. Manager Bruce Bochy did mention that he does not want to platoon two relatively inexperienced players, so this seems like an "either-or" scenario.

Williamson was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with an injured quadricep, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
After playing 54 games, Williamson will end his 2016 season with a .223/.315/.411 line and six home runs. The decision to put Williamson on the DL was made in order to make room for the newly-acquired Gordon Beckham on the club's 40-man roster.

Williamson (shoulder) was reinstated from the DL on Thursday, the San Francisco Chronicle's John Shea reports.
EDGE Analysis
The hulking corner outfielder has been on a lengthy rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento, as the Giants were waiting for rosters to expand to activate him. He could be an option to see some starts, especially in the short term as Denard Span is dealing with a stiff neck. Despite the fact that Williamson is right-handed, his career major league splits and his Triple-A splits from 2016 suggest he is better against righties, although neither sample is large enough for this to be stated as fact. What can't be questioned is the fact that he provides a power element that few Giants outfielders can match.

Williamson (shoulder) is expected to come off the disabled list Friday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williamson was placed on the DL on August 2 with a shoulder strain, but will likely be activated Friday. Upon his return, he'll likely return to his role as a backup outfielder for the Giants. Although he has a poor .245 batting average, he's posted a .345 on-base percentage and .459 slugging percentage, making him a formidable reserve for San Francisco.

Williamson (shoulder) still isn't 100 percent healthy according to manager Bruce Bochy, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
The shoulder has flared up on Williamson as he's tried to push through a minor league rehab assignment and thus the team was forced to turn elsewhere to replace Gregor Blanco (shoulder) on Tuesday. Gorkys Hernandez got the call from Triple-A Sacramento, and it's uncertain if Williamson will be ready to go by the time rosters expand Sept. 1.
