Luke Scott (hamstring) received a cortisone shot Monday.
Scott was pulled from Sunday's game due to a tight left hamstring. He likely won't play in the Rays' current series against the Tigers, but a return this weekend could be a possibility.

Luke Scott called his left hamstring pull "mild," but isn't sure when he'll return to the starting lineup.
Scott left Sunday's game due to the injury. He doesn't think he'll be out for long, so it's probably safe to call him day-to-day right now. Jeff Keppinger will serve as the club's designated hitter on Tuesday against the Tigers.

Luke Scott went 2-for-3 with a homer as the Rays' designated hitter on Saturday.
Scott hit leadoff, but that was just to get him at extra at-bat before he left the game. Since he's still recovering from shoulder surgery and isn't ready to do anything except DH, he'll probably see a lot of action in minor league games during the final couple of weeks of the spring.

Luke Scott is making his spring debut for the Rays Sunday.
Scott is working his way back from surgery to repair a torn labrum, and although his shoulder has felt fine, he didn't want to play in games until he got his mechanics in order. The 33-year-old will serve as the Rays' primary designated hitter this season after four years in Baltimore.

Luke Scott (shoulder) is scheduled to take live batting practice Thursday.
It could be the last step before Scott is cleared to play in live games. The 33-year-old is being brought along slowly this spring after undergoing surgery last July to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, but he should be ready for Opening Day.

Rays signed DH Luke Scott to a one-year contract with a club option for 2013.
Terms weren't disclosed. Scott, 33, is coming off surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, but the Rays expect him to be their primary designated hitter in 2012. While he'll add some much-needed left-handed pop to the lineup, his power could suffer at the pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field.

Luke Scott confirmed to Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times that he has agreed to a one-year contract with the Rays which includes a club option for 2013.
The dollar amount isn't yet known, but Scott said that the contract includes some incentives. He expects to serve as the primary designated hitter, which marks the end of Johnny Damon's tenure in Tampa Bay, and also play some first base. The 33-year-old underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder last July, but has been hitting off a tee for six weeks and just started a throwing program. "There's no reason why I shouldn't be ready for opening day,'' said Scott.
