Luke Scott (back) has been hitting off a tee and taking flips and is on track to return on Monday. It's the day after he's first eligible and marks the beginning of a three-game series in Kansas City. "Tomorrow or the next day, I'll be taking batting practice on the field," Scott said. "... Things are feeling better, got to get myself back into swinging shape a little bit. But it feels pretty good. There's just a little bit of tightness in there. But it's nothing like it was before."

Luke Scott (back) has been cleared for hitting activities. He took 30 swings yesterday, and will continue light hitting drills Sunday. Scott fully intends to return when first eligible later this month. Hideki Matsui will continue to see regular at-bats at designated hitter.

Rays placed OF/DH Luke Scott on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 9, with with mid-back spasms. Scott fully intends to return when he is first eligible later this month. Hideki Matsui should continue to see most of the at-bats out of the DH spot and makes for a fine short-term addition in AL-only and even some deeper mixed leagues. The Rays will announce a corresponding roster move on Friday.

Luke Scott hasn't started a game since June 5, partly due to a stiff back. The Rays have also wanted to see what they have with Hideki Matsui, and Scott's minor ailment has allowed them to do that. Scott has nine homers this season but is batting just .220 with a .281 OBP. Of course, Matsui is hitting only .179/.207/.429 so far, so we'd expect Scott to see plenty of starts once he's back to 100 percent.

Luke Scott went 1-for-4 and drove home two runs in a losing cause against the Orioles on Saturday. Scott's two-run single in the sixth inning brought the Rays to within 4-3, but they couldn't do any damage against the Orioles bullpen the rest of the way. Scott has been an impressive run producer in the early part of the season, with 24 RBI now in his first 100 at-bats.

Luke Scott went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI in the Rays' loss to the Red Sox on Saturday. Scott started things off with his three-run blast off of Clay Buchholz in the first inning, then added an RBI double in the third. Scott had missed the previous five games with a hamstring issue, but returned to the lineup in a big way.

Luke Scott (hamstring) is in Saturday's lineup. Scott missed the last five games but made an appearance as a pinch-hitter Friday and participated in batting practice throughout the week. Stephen Vogt will return to a bench role and be sent to Triple-A once B.J. Upton is ready to come off the disabled list.

Luke Scott (hamstring) made an appearance as a pinch-hitter in Friday's game against the Red Sox. Scott hit for Reid Brignac in the seventh inning but wasn't used defensively. There's a good chance he'll be available to DH on Saturday against right-hander Clay Buchholz.

Luke Scott (hamstring) remains out of the Rays lineup Friday. Scott took live batting practice Thursday afternoon, but hasn't made enough progress to play for the first time since Sunday. Stephen Vogt will get another start at DH in his absence. There's a good chance Scott will return on Saturday when the Red Sox send righty Clay Buchholz to the hill.

Luke Scott (hamstring) is scheduled to take live batting practice on Thursday afternoon. If it goes well, Scott could be cleared to return to the Rays' starting lineup Friday in Boston. He's been out since last weekend because of tightness in his left hamstring.
