John Harper of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets have turned down a trade offer of Luke Gregerson for Daniel Murphy.
The Mets are seeking relief help, but evidently don't feel giving up Murphy for a reliable setup man is worth it. Jon Morosi of FOXSports.com thinks Gregerson, who has a 1.13 ERA since mid-June, will be a "name to watch" at the deadline. It's clear the Pads are more interested in trading him than Huston Street.

Luke Gregerson will miss his third straight game Wednesday due to back spasms.
Padres' manager Bud Black is calling him day-to-day, so it doesn't sound like a major concern at the moment. Assuming the issue doesn't sideline him for much longer, he should be ready for Opening Day.

Luke Gregerson is currently sidelined with minor back spasms.
Gregerson was originally scheduled to return Tuesday, but the Padres gave him another day to rest. The 27-year-old right-hander should be fine for Opening Day.

Padres and RHP Luke Gregerson avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract.
No word yet on the terms, but Gregerson was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. The 27-year-old right-hander posted a 2.75 ERA and 34/19 K/BB ratio over 55 2/3 innings last season. He'll set up for new closer Huston Street in 2012.

Padres manager Bud Black considers Luke Gregerson the most capable of taking over the closer job vacated by Heath Bell.
Gregerson would be the top in-house candidate, but there's still a good chance that the Padres bring in help from outside the organization and keep Gregerson in a setup role. The 27-year-old right-hander posted a 2.75 ERA in 2011 but saw his strikeout rate plummet to 5.5, which was a huge drop from the previous two seasons.

Luke Gregerson took the loss on Thursday after surrendering five runs (zero earned) on three walks and a hit in 2/3 of an inning.
His line could have looked very good if he hadn't committed an error trying to field Eli Whiteside's bunt. After he set down the next two batters with the bases loaded, Gregerson walked in a run and then yielded a two-run single. As a result, his WHIP balloons to 1.36, while his ERA drops to 2.56.

Padres activated RHP Luke Gregerson from the 15-day disabled list.
Gregerson has been out since June 9 with a strained left oblique but is good to go after appearing in a couple rehab games. He'll return to his setup role ahead of Heath Bell.

Luke Gregerson (oblique) allowed three runs on three hits and two walks in just 2-3 of an inning Friday in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Tucson.
Despite the poor results, Padres manager Bud Black is encouraged. "Luke said he felt good and didn't feel the oblique muscle, that's the big thing," said Black. "While you hate to see a guy give up runs, it got him some work. From a rehab standpoint, that's better than having get out of the inning on five pitches." Gregerson will make another appearance for Tucson Sunday before rejoining the Padres Monday for their series against the Giants.

Luke Gregerson (oblique) is tentatively scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Tucson.
Gregerson still has to make it through a bullpen session Wednesday without any setbacks. He's expected to make two appearances before being reevaluated, so it's possible he could be back with the Padres next week. The 27-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since June 9 with a strained left oblique.
