Ryan will start Friday's game against the White Sox in Chicago, MLive Meida Group's James Schmehl reports. Buck Farmer, who was listed as the probable Saturday starter, was demoted to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. With Ryan now scheduled for Friday against Chicago's Jose Quintana, it seems David Price will pitch Saturday night. Ryan's stint in the rotation will likely last just the one start, as Justin Verlander (triceps) may make his 2015 big-league debut next week, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports.

Ryan will not start Wednesday's game against the A's. Ryan was in line to start Wednesday had he made it to Oakland a few hours prior to game time, but he did not arrive soon enough, so Alex Wilson will start the game instead. Ryan is still expected to be called up Wednesday, and there's a good chance he sees action in relief of Wilson, who has worked as a reliever this season and will likely be limited to a few innings tops.

Ryan will likely be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to start Thursday in place of Alfredo Simon (personal), Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports. Ryan will need to make it from Louisville to Oakland in order to start Thursday, but assuming he can do that, he will make his second big league start. Ryan tossed six scoreless innings last year in his only other start with the Tigers, but his numbers with Toledo this season -- a 4.67 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 54 innings over nine starts -- are uninspiring.

Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports. With the Tigers already possessing two lefties in their bullpen in Tom Gorzelanny and Ian Krol, there wasn't additional room for Ryan to win an Opening Day spot. It's unclear if the organization plans on keeping Ryan in a relief upon moving back to the minors, as he's previously worked as a starter at every level, including Triple-A. He shined in five starts with Toledo last season, posting a 1.64 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB ratio over 33 innings.

Ryan will work out of the bullpen this spring, the Detroit News reports.Although he pitched mostly as a starter last season while seeing time at Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo, Ryan will have an opportunity to earn a spot in the Detroit bullpen during spring training. The Tigers have one lefty (Tom Gorzelanny) projected for the Opening Day roster, giving Ryan a reasonable shot at securing a job.

Ryan was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. Ryan has made 27 starts between the minors and the Tigers this season, but expect him to test out a relief gig with no openings in the rotation evident for the foreseeable future.

Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after Saturday night's game against the White Sox, Michigan Live reports. Ryan pitched in the second half of a doubleheader Saturday, hurling six shutout innings and striking out one batter. He will be recalled again on Tuesday, so the 22-year-old will be back with the Tigers shortly.
