Ryan will join the Tigers from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryan has struggled in both Triple-A and in the majors, posting a 5.94 ERA with the Tigers and a 4.19 ERA for Triple-A Toledo. With the rosters expanding on Tuesday, the 23-year-old Ryan should provide extra bullpen depth for the final month of the season.

Ryan gave up five runs on six hits over 2.2 innings while striking out two and walking one against the Mariners on Tuesday night. After the start, Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Toledo. An Austin Jackson grand slam and a solo homer from Franklin Gutierrez chased the Tigers' starter from Tuesday's game before he could complete the bottom of the third inning. Shane Greene has pitched well in two of his four starts at Triple-A Toledo, so he may be summoned back from the minors for Ryan's previously scheduled turn Sunday in Minnesota. Buck Farmer was recalled by the Tigers in the corresponding move Tuesday night.

Ryan (1-2) needed 94 pitches just to get through four innings Thursday in a loss to the Pirates, giving up two runs on three hits and five walks while striking out four. Frankly, Ryan was fortunate to escape with just the two runs in such an inefficient outing. The results have simply not been there for Ryan, who's proven untrustworthy in nearly any fantasy format, but the Tigers have a lack of back-of-the-rotation options to replace him. With a hugely inflated 1.45 WHIP that promises more bad times to come, he's as risky a roll as you'll find in fantasy right now. On the bright side, his next start is scheduled to come in pitcher-friendly Seattle on Tuesday.

Ryan's next start will come Thursday, the Oakland Press reports. Ryan was supposed to start Saturday's game against the White Sox, but it was postponed. He will get his next start Thursday, pushed back to accommodate the Tigers' veterans, David Price, Justin Verlander, and Alfredo Simon.

Ryan won't make the start Sunday against the White Sox, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports. Ryan was scheduled to start Saturday's game, but the contest was postponed due to rain. The Tigers have yet to announce their starters for their series against the Pirates this week, so it's possible Ryan will get the nod for one of those games. David Price will start Sunday's contest.

Ryan won't make his scheduled start Saturday as the Tigers' game against the White Sox was postponed due to rain. Ryan lasted just 3.2 innings in his most recent start on June 22 against the Indians. He is yet to replicate his success from his June 5 start where he went 7.0 innings and allowed just two earned runs. The Tigers have yet to announce Sunday's starter, but Ryan is likely candidate to get the nod.

Ryan lasted just 3.2 innings in Monday's no decision against Cleveland, as he gave up three runs on six hits and two walks without a single strikeout. Ryan has a 3.91 ERA, but now has as many strikeouts (six) as walks in 24 innings. He induced just one swinging strike in 60 pitches and isn't going to last in the majors as long as hitters are making such consistent contact.

Ryan will get the start Tuesday, and could occupy Shane Greene's rotation spot going forward, MLive's James Schmehl reports. He had a 4.67 ERA and just 31 strikeouts in 54 innings at Triple-A, so Ryan will be a very low-end option in fantasy leagues. Greene was sent to Triple-A on Friday, so there is a rotation spot for the taking, although Buck Farmer may be a better long-term option to take that spot.

Ryan will be available out of the bullpen this week, MLive Media Group's James Schmehl reports. Ryan was effective in his second career start, holding the White Sox to two runs over seven innings Friday night. He never figured to stick in the rotation for long, as Justin Verlander (triceps) is scheduled to make his 2015 debut Saturday against the Indians. If the Tigers eventually need a spot starter or injury replacement, Ryan will likely be one of the top options. Until then, the lefty figures to occupy a long/middle-relief role.

Ryan struck out four and walked one while giving up two runs on three hits over seven innings in his first start of the season for the Tigers on Friday night. Given that it was a road matchup at U.S. Cellular Field, on a night where the wind was a factor, Ryan's performance was an impressive one for the Tigers. He did a good job getting plenty of outs on the ground (10), and avoiding the damage of free passes. The Tigers won't need a fifth starter again until June 16, so Ryan will likely work in the bullpen barring a setback for Justin Verlander (triceps) in the coming weeks.
