Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports. With the Tigers already possessing two lefties in their bullpen in Tom Gorzelanny and Ian Krol, there wasn't additional room for Ryan to win an Opening Day spot. It's unclear if the organization plans on keeping Ryan in a relief upon moving back to the minors, as he's previously worked as a starter at every level, including Triple-A. He shined in five starts with Toledo last season, posting a 1.64 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB ratio over 33 innings.
