According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Dodgers and Juan Rivera have agreed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract.
The contract is pending a physical. We learned earlier this week that the two sides were closing in on a new deal. Rivera, 33, batted .273/.333/.406 with five homers, 46 RBI and a .740 OPS over 246 plate appearances after being acquired by the Dodgers in July. He should see most of his playing time in left field next season, but could also be an option at first base depending upon what the Dodgers do with James Loney this winter.

According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers are closing in on a new contract with Juan Rivera.
The two sides are discussing a one-year deal with a club option for 2013. Rivera, 33, played well after being acquired by the Dodgers in July, batting .273/.333/.406 with five homers, 46 RBI and a .740 OPS over 246 plate appearances. He would likely be the favorite to play left field in 2012, but could be a possibility for first base if the Dodgers non-tender James Loney.

Juan Rivera had a monster night at the plate on Sunday, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.
The change of scenery certainly has paid off for Rivera, whose .785 OPS while playing for L.A. is 119 points higher than during his tenure with Toronto. His 32/19 K/BB mark also is much improved.

Juan Rivera knocked in four runs with a pair of doubles in the Dodgers' 7-4 win over the Nationals on Thursday.
Rivera supplied all of the offense in the first eight innings, but it was Tony Gwynn Jr. who broke a tie with a two-run double in the ninth, giving the Dodgers a 6-4 lead. Rivera figured to be staring at less playing time down the stretch with Jerry Sands up, but now that Andre Ethier has been ruled out for the rest of the month, it's a good bet that Rivera will be in there most days.

Juan Rivera hit a game-winning sacrifice fly in the 10th inning of Saturday's 2-1 win over the Braves.
Rivera's sac fly scored Dee Gordon, who reached base on an inning-opening double. The Dodgers also got a solo home run from catcher A.J. Ellis earlier in the game. Rivera, 33, is batting .286 with 28 runs batted in.

Juan Rivera contributed a two-run homer and an RBI double in the Dodgers' 9-4 defeat of the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Rivera is hitting .322 with three homers and 22 RBI in 115 at-bats for the Dodgers. James Loney has heated up as well, so Rivera probably won't start adding a bunch of starts at first base against right-handers. Still, the Dodgers will likely find room for him at least half of the time going forward.

Juan Rivera went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI in a losing cause Wewdnesday against the Phillies.
Playing primarily against lefties, Rivera has hit .338 with two homers and 13 RBI in 71 at-bats for the Dodgers. There's still not much reason for Don Mattingly to begin penciling him in against righties, but it might happen if Rivera can stay hot.

Juan Rivera went 2-for-4 and homered Friday in his debut for the Dodgers.
Rivera will be a fixture against left-handers for the Dodgers, though whether he starts in left field or first base may be determined on a day-to-day basis. He doesn't stand to play against righties unless Tony Gwynn Jr. goes into an extended slump.

Dodgers acquired OF Juan Rivera from the Blue Jays for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
The Dodgers also acquired cash in the deal. The Jays took on Rivera's $5.25 million salary this offseason in order to unload Vernon Wells' bloated contract on the Angels. Toronto DFA'd Rivera last week. The 33-year-old outfielder has batted just .176 since June 16 and is hitting only .243 on the year with a .666 OPS. It also doesn't help that he's been a butcher in the outfield. He could use a change of scenery. With the Dodgers, expect him to be used against left-handed pitchers, a platoon role he should acclimate well to.

John Lott of the National Post reports that the Blue Jays plan to trade DFA'd OF Juan Rivera.
Lott adds that the Jays have already received several inquires, so it sounds like Rivera will get dealt in the coming days. The 33-year-old outfielder has batted just .176 since June 16, and could do for a change of scenery. Look for an outfielder needy team like Boston to be among those interested.
